"I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying!" Ryan exclaimed dramatically, clutching his chest in mock agony as Aunt Harper turned to him, livid. She had just watched the video Sophie shared—a video that painted a dubious picture of Jules and Mia.
"The one dying is me!" Ryan quipped with a sheepish grin, trying to lighten the tense air.
Sophie, however, was relentless. "Look at the video! Isn't it obvious? This has to be an affair!" she declared, fanning the flames.
Emily's face clouded with worry. "What if... this is really what it looks like?"
"That's enough!" Ava cut in, her voice firm. "Stop this nonsense. Mon is a good person; she wouldn't do anything like that."
"I agree," Ryan nodded, crossing his arms.
"But the video speaks for itself," Sophie insisted, her tone accusatory.
"Could the reason Boss fired her be about this, and not the page followers?" Ava wondered aloud, a hint of doubt creeping into her voice.
"Have you ever noticed," Aunt Harper chimed in slyly, "every time Boss fires someone, there's always a love affair involved?" She let out a dramatic sigh, dabbing at imaginary tears. "We've admired her all this time—how could she do this?"
Her words carried the sting of mockery, but Sky, listening from the shadows, wasn't amused. His eyes darkened as he stormed to the rooftop, where Jules was overseeing the skyline.
"Sir Sky," Jules greeted, her tone cautious. "Do you need something?"
Sky closed the distance between them, grabbing her wrist. "Where were you earlier?" he demanded, his voice icy.
"I was on the phone with my mum," Jules stammered, hesitating under his piercing gaze.
"Mum?" Sky repeated, narrowing his eyes. "I overheard the employees talking. They said you were with Mia. What's going on, Mon?"
"Sir Sky, please listen—"
"I don't want your excuses!" Sky interrupted, his tone sharp. "You've been meeting her in private? Are you working for her? What kind of work? Tell me!"
"I—" Jules tried to explain, but Sky cut her off again.
"No wonder she kept inviting you out with us," he accused. "What's your intent, Jules? I never thought you'd plot against me."
Jules finally snapped, her voice rising. "How could you even think of me this way? I'm by your side all day and night—when would I even have the time?" Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Love must come with trust, Sky!"
Sky's voice dropped an octave, cold and bitter. "So, you think I should just trust you?"
"I was talking with my mum," Jules said firmly. "After the call, I ran into Mia—accidentally. I can never betray you, Sky. But if you don't believe me, I have nothing else to say."
As she turned to leave, Sky grabbed her arm again. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going home," Jules replied, her gaze steady. "We'll talk when you've calmed down."
With that, she walked away, leaving Sky standing in the cold wind of his doubts.
Later that evening, Jules strolled aimlessly down the street, her phone pressed to her ear. "I feel so uncomfortable right now," she confessed to Dianne. "I pretended to be upset so I could leave, but he's sharp. If I stayed any longer, I might've spilled everything."
Dianne's voice on the other end was firm. "Why don't you just tell Mia to confess already? You're putting yourself at risk, Mon."
"I want to," Jules sighed. "But Mia's not ready. I don't know how to approach this—and I feel guilty."
Before Dianne could reply, Mia appeared, tugging Jules aside. "I'm sorry to bother you again," Mia said hurriedly, "but I feel so bad about cursing Sky on Facebook. Should I confess everything to him?"
"Yes, Mia," Jules urged. "Tell him—tell him now."
Mia hesitated, gathering her courage. But before she could act, Sky appeared, his expression thunderous. His gaze darted between the two women. "You like her?" he barked at Mia. "How could you?"
"Sky, you're misunderstanding—" Jules began, but Sky's anger flared.
"What misunderstanding? Why didn't you talk inside the company if it's nothing?"
Mia tried to explain, but Sky wouldn't hear it. Jules froze, her tears finally falling. Unable to take more, she turned and walked away, leaving Sky behind.
Hours later, Jules sat on a park bench, her tears flowing freely. She ignored the incessant ringing of her phone until Noah appeared. "Mon," he said softly, sitting beside her. "What happened?"
Jules shook her head, wiping her tears. "Nothing. I just need time." But Noah wasn't convinced. "Did you fight with him?" he pressed gently.
Unable to hold back, Jules leaned into Noah's shoulder, sobbing quietly.
Sky's voice broke the moment. "Yes, we fought," he declared, his tone cold. "And for the record—we're lovers."
Noah glared at him. "What kind of lover lets their partner cry like this?"
The tension mounted as Sky approached Noah, ready for a confrontation. But Jules stepped between them. "Please, Sky," she begged, her voice breaking. "Go home."
"One moment, you're with Mia, and the next, you're in another man's arms. You know what they call people like you?" Sky snapped.
"There's nothing left to say," Jules whispered, her tears falling harder as she turned and walked away with Noah.
Sky stood alone tearing up, his heart heavy with betrayal and regret, watching the woman he loves disappear into the night.
