Sky sat at his desk, his mind a chaotic mess as his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, hesitated, then picked up.
"Do you love Grandma more than your own life, little one?" Silvy's voice boomed through the receiver, sharp and piercing. Sky stiffened. "Silvy?"
"Oh, don't bother wondering how I know about this," she snapped. "What you must know right now is this..Mon is about to walk away from your life. If you choose Granny, you'll lose her forever. Do something before it's too late!" Before Sky could respond, the line went dead.
Meanwhile, Jules began packing her things, each item pulling her deeper into a pit of despair. Every small possession brought back memories of Sky- a shared laugh, a stolen glance, a promise made in better times.
Her hands shook as she folded her clothes, her vision blurring with tears. She picked up a framed photo of them together, her thumb brushing over his face. A small, broken laugh escaped her lips, but it quickly turned into a sob.
Her heart felt heavy, like it was being ripped apart piece by piece, and yet she couldn't stop. She had to leave. There was no other choice.
Jules adjusted the strap of her travel bag, her trembling hands betraying the calm facade she wore. Her heart felt like it was shattering into a thousand pieces, but she forced herself to move. The wheels of her trawally rolled quietly over the wooden floor as she headed for the door.
Just as she reached for the handle, it flew open. Sky stood there, his face a mask of shock and desperation. His eyes locked onto the bag in her hand.
"Where are you going?" he demanded, his voice thick with disbelief.
"I'm going home," Jules replied, her voice devoid of any emotion, her face blank like a shield against the storm brewing inside her.
Sky stepped forward, grabbing her luggage, his grip firm as though letting go would mean losing her forever. "I won't allow it," he said, his voice trembling. "I'm not letting you leave."
Jules pushed him away, her movements weak but resolute. "Let me go, Sky," she whispered, her voice cracking as tears spilled down her cheeks.
"Mon..." His voice softened, his desperation clear as he knelt before her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Could you please stay? Just talk to me, please."
She closed her eyes, her hands resting on his shoulders for a moment before gently helping him to his feet. "You should live the way you should," she said, her tone calm but filled with a pain so deep it was almost tangible. "I don't want to be selfish, Sky. I can't hold you back like this."
Sky shook his head, his own tears falling freely now. "Didn't we promise we'd fight together? Jules, don't give up on us. Please..."
Her gaze met his, her eyes hollow, reflecting the emptiness she felt. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "I have to give up. Let's face it, Sky, we've both lost."
Sky's voice broke as he whispered, "It hurts... so much."
"It hurts me even more," Jules replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She took a step back, breaking his hold on her hands. "Let's break up. Goodbye, Sky."
Her words were cold, final. She turned and walked away, each step feeling like a dagger to her own heart.
Sky stood frozen, his body trembling as tears blurred his vision. "I'm not breaking up with you, Jules Parker!" he yelled, his voice raw and filled with anguish.
His knees gave out, and he fell to the floor, sobbing as her figure grew smaller and smaller in the distance.
But he wasn't ready to give up. Not yet. He forced himself to stand, running after her. "Jules, wait!" he called, his voice breaking. "Give me one last chance. Just one more day to fix everything!"
Jules paused but didn't turn around. Her silence spoke volumes, it was the silence of someone who had already lost hope.
Sky's breath hitched as he watched her disappear into the distance. Desperation clawed at him, and he pulled out his phone, dialing Silvy.
"Her there, little one," Silvy answered, her tone sharp yet familiar.
"You must help me talk to Grandma about Mon," Sky said, his voice firm despite his tears.
Silvy let out a bitter laugh. "Damn, I don't ever want to see that woman's face again, little one."
"Silvy," Sky interrupted, his voice shaking but determined. "If you don't want me to end up like Sele, help me. You told me to get up and fight. I am fighting. I'm serious this time."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Silvy sighed and hung up without another word.
Sky stared at his phone, his jaw tightening. He wiped his tears, the fire of determination flickering in his eyes. He wasn't going to let Jules go. Not like this.
