[Brielle’s POV]

It was Thursday, a quiet day of my week since I had the day off of work. As usual I didn’t have much planned, perhaps give the house a much needed clean or just laze around enjoying the free day.

I glanced outside, the weather was beautiful. Spring was beginning to return to the frosty streets of Owatonna, it was still a way off yet but it had brought some much needed warmth to the land. I went over to the fridge and poured myself a glass of orange juice. I should probably go out and enjoy the warmth while it lasted, but to be honest I was pretty shattered, it was 1pm and I’d frankly only just gotten up about an hour ago. Don’t get me wrong, working at the sports hall was very enjoyable but it didn’t half tire you out!

The trill of the phone in the hallway distracted me from my aches and I went through to receive it.

“Hello?”

“Hi Brielle its Ann.”

“Oh hey Ann how’s it going?” I asked almost nonchalantly.

“Oh, you know the usual. I was wondering are you free today?”

“Yeah, I’ve only just woken up to be fair but I’ve got the day off so it’s cool.” I could hear Ann laughing quietly.

“I hope I didn’t wake you up?”

“No no, you didn’t!” I replied with a laugh.

Ann gave another laugh, if I wasn’t so sleepy I would have perhaps noted the hesitation in her voice.

“Fancy going for a walk through the forest? Today’s beautiful.” Ann asked.

“Sounds great, do you want to come over to mine and we’ll go from here?”

“Sure, I’ll meet you there. See you in ten.”

“Bye.”

I hung up and put the phone back on the console. As I darted round the house getting myself ready I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a reason Ann wanted to meet up, usually we’d just chat on the phone or accidently bump into one another when out shopping or at Adam’s house. We never really met up like this, but I suppose it made a nice change, I hadn’t seen Ann in a while. And it was quite a while since I’d seen her without Adam, I giggled. Was this some kind of girl-talk meet up? The smile remained on my face as I thought about it for a while, something about the idea really appealed to me and I couldn’t for the life of me think why.

Eventually I shook the thought out of my head; I was way too tired to be thinking through anything logically.
