[Adam's POV - One week on from the last chapter, they're living apart now but have spent the day of this chapter at Brielle's house. So follows their last adventure]
The tips of my guitar calloused fingers slid down Brielle’s back, catching the rigid line that marked her spine. Inside I silently marvelled at the wonderful curvature I could feel right beneath my hands; it hadn’t escaped my noticing that just last week I had felt along this very same spot during a wondrous massage I had given to her on the last night she’d stayed at my place. Now though I was at her house, and her shirt was most definitely on.
I pressed my lips together and fought back a snigger as I buried my head into the golden strands of her hair and lost myself in the deeply expressive hug we were sharing.
It had been six weeks since the accident and we were now living apart like we had been before the car crash. I knew it was right, but it seemed to feel anything but that. I missed her company, just her simple presence was more reassuring than I could quite admit to her; the first few days had been the worst, the insomnia soon returning to haunt my empty nights.
As much as a curse the insomnia felt however, it made being with her all the more of a blessing.
I smiled against her head and slowly released the tension in my arms so that she might pull away slightly to look up at me. As it seemed to always be the case, my heart somersaulted and a smile immediately spread across my face; she made me feel good. It was as simple, and beautiful as that.
“You want to go for a walk?” Brielle puzzled with a gentle smile.
My stomach surged with butterflies and threatened to paint my face an unflattering shade of red as they travelled along my body, however with surprisingly little ease I fought them away and nodded my head sharply. “I’d love to.” I replied as my hands trailed along her lower back and began to loop around her waist, tempting her further. Although tempting her was probably a rookie mistake on my part, this girl certainly didn’t need any excuse to show her love.
Reciprocating my moves with daring grace, Brielle slipped her hands just that bit lower down my back too and immediately pressed herself up against me, trapping our bodies without an inch to move so that she might kiss me and mean every single movement of it.
And all I did was let her lead; fascinated beyond comprehendible thought at how strongly she was showing interest in me. It wasn’t anything new, but it always got me wondering what feelings were running through her head, what sensations she would feel echoing out over every fibre of her body; it excited me to think what pleasure she was getting from this just as I was too.
Before my thoughts could develop any further though I felt Brielle softly pull away, prolonging our last skin our skin touch for a heart stopping second before her lips left mine entirely. I opened my eyes and smiled as I watched her for a quiet second, fully absorbing myself in the sensation of her breath warm and soft against my face which had replaced the gorgeous contact of our lips.
I saw the change in her expression and I knew what was coming, but that still didn’t prepare my heart for the blow it was about to take.
“I love you Adam.”
I forced the strongest smile I could muster as I felt my eyes stinging with an unusually strong emotion. Her words had acted as a key to my heart, unlocking a feeling I thought had been lost for so long. It took a few moments to realise that knowing she truly loved me had given me the confidence I had been seeking so desperately for weeks after the accident.
I knew what I had to do, so I said a quick prayer.
Quickly leaning down, I planted a delicate kiss on her rosy lips before drawing away and taking her hands in mine, leading her into the hallway where we both hastily pulled on our shoes and coats; a sense of eager excitement heavy in the air between us. It was making me giddy just to be around her, so desperately did I want to get outside and fulfil my duty.
