Am I dead?
I wasn’t really too sure.
It was black all around and I couldn’t open my eyes; in fact my entire body was unresponsive to my calls. Yet despite that, I was somehow aware of a heavy black void pressing down on me from a world just out of reach. Or so it felt.
Fuzzy, muffled, almost disjointed, alien, voices spoke out above me. They sounded mighty familiar, but I couldn’t place a name to them. Not yet at least.
My head felt like it was swimming. Like I was trapped in the phase where sleep and wake collide.
It was peaceful.
My fear was dulled to such a degree that I could barely even think.
But for some reason I wanted to escape it.
A tingling sensation soon filled my body from a location that seemed to be my arm, but I couldn’t be too sure. My mind was fast unlatching from the small amount of sanity it had gotten hold of. The cooling flow that was enveloping my limbs, travelling through each of my veins, made me realise I had just been tranquilised.
Why were they sedating me?
And who were these people?
Were there even people there, I had to ask myself.
My thoughts however, ended abruptly as my conscience let go entirely and I drifted off to a world of wakeful dreams that spiralled out in some kind of dreamscape before my head.
Whether I was dead or not, I cared little for.
Surrendering my exhausted body to this dream world was all that mattered right now.
