[Adam's POV - Backstage Suite]
The air in the backstage suite was full of eager anticipation as we sat waiting for Taylor to arrive. A few people were chatting quietly but the conversation sounded pretty meaningless, more of a silence filler than anything else. Adjusting my tie for about the hundredth time that minute I hastily cast my eyes around the large plush room, most of the people I didn’t know, stage managers and directors mostly; all of them would probably meet Taylor but I knew her attention would mainly be on me.
The thought was still completely insane in my head, she was such a successful musician and songwriter, not to mention being really quite pretty and from what I perceived quite feisty in nature; I couldn’t believe she wanted to meet someone as shy and dorky as me.
Five more minutes passed by without word of her arrival. My mind was already starting to race as I realised she might not be coming, she was probably really busy and had to be someplace else; each manic thought both relaxed me and irritated me. I was frightfully nervous about meeting her almost to the extent of wanting to run away completely, but there was a part of me that really did want to meet her; she had such a mystique surrounding her. No doubt she was totally out of my league but I had to admit I was genuinely fascinated by her.
I was actually so focussed on my own thoughts that I almost missed her step shyly into the room behind a burly security guard. A hush fell immediately as everyone gradually began to notice her.
Snapping out of my reverie I quickly push myself up from the couch arm I’m sat on and walk towards her, vaguely aware of the band following behind me, excited whispers and prods I could tell were breaking out from around the room but I barely acknowledged them. Right now it was just me and Taylor.
Swallowing a lump in my throat I awkwardly hold out my hand as I flash her a shy smile.
“H-hi I’m Adam, it’s nice t-to meet you.” I stutter as we shake hands. Taylor smiles sweetly and nods her head in a charming acknowledgement.
“It’s good to meet you too Adam. Your show was brilliant tonight!” She says calmly. I noticed immediately how she’d relaxed, her initial shyness at the situation was fast fading. Turning to look behind me at the band she smiles again, her slate blue eyes dancing with sparks that made my heart flutter. “You were all amazing!”
“Wow, t-thank you!” I say softly, a hot blush touching my face as I step aside and introduce the band to her. Luckily for me I noticed I wasn’t the only one fighting back nerves, most nervous it seemed was actually Daniel, he was a gentle giant really, a quiet guy and I think he was a little wonderstruck to say the least. But in fairness, as I took a brief look around whilst Taylor was talking with Breanne I noticed how all the men in the room were shuffling about awkwardly, some were trying to play it cool and look uninterested but for the most part all eyes seemed to be upon her. And who was I kidding? She did have a very powerful air surrounding her.
After the introductions had been settled the band dispersed a little as Laura, our tour manager, left Taylor’s side and issued the band with a few instructions about upcoming tours and other such matters.
I let out a shaky breath as I met Taylors gaze. She was smiling warmly at me, her blue eyes sparkling with life and emotion. Shyly smiling back I subconsciously adjust my tie.
“Is this your first tour Adam?” She asks politely, the soft tone of her voice making my skin prickle as she said my name, I knew she could see my shyness and was attempting to relax me. Swallowing a lump in my throat I shake my head.
