[Adam's POV - April 14th 2011]
Easing my foot from the accelerator I slowed the car to a steady stop outside Brielle’s house, my heart only beginning to race faster as I switched off the engine and heaved myself out of the mustang.
Nerves or not, I couldn’t deny that I was really excited for the night ahead.
I’d actually surprised myself with the birthday plan; it wasn’t strictly in my nature but taking the reins and being so confident in the matter felt right. The meal tonight was going to be good, I could feel it.
Quickly I made my way up to her door and knocked three times before stepping back and adjusting my tie for about the hundredth time that evening. It wasn’t however long before Brielle opened the door and I had to worry no more, her very presence making my knees go weak and my mind go blank as I stared for a hushed moment at her, simply in awe at her beauty.
Dressed in the sweet flowery dress I’d bought her last Christmas she truly did look stunning. With her blonde hair slightly curled and with just the slightest touch of makeup on to highlight the ice blue of her eyes I seriously couldn’t stop the smile that flew onto my face; in that moment as we took one another in, all my thoughts vanished entirely.
“Wow- you look...” I floundered on my words as I lost track completely. “-beautiful.”
Brielle blushed a soft shade of red and bit her lip as she looked down shyly at her feet for a moment before eventually meeting my gaze again, her evident shyness about the compliment only stirred my love for her further; she really was so endearing and sweet.
“You don’t look so bad yourself.” She sassed with a mischievous smirk.
I chuckled deeply for a second at her comment as I felt my own cheeks flushing with colour, a sharp flare of pride igniting brightly in my chest before it flickered out as I locked eyes on Brielle again.
“I- err, let me just get my bag, I’ll be a minute.” Brielle blurted after a moment, seeming to finally snap out of the reverie she had been in upon seeing me; it was a least some reassurance to know I wasn’t the only one feeling utterly captivated.
Nodding my head sharply I flashed her a quick smile and watched as she darted away inside for a moment, my mind almost immediately wandering away to some bizarre thoughts as she stepped out of sight.
It was with a silly grin and a fluttering heart that I realised that I couldn’t get her out of my mind. Recently she was all I thought about, yet more than normal, it seemed ever since the night of the storm back in January our relationship had only grown to new levels, it was like a new door had been opened and our trust and love had widened so beautifully.
Almost 7 months since we first started dating, I still couldn’t believe my luck.
I’d never felt so happy in my entire life, and Brielle had done that; it was crazy and so unlikely that things had happened between us but it felt like it was meant to be.
And as Brielle appeared again, throwing me a wobbly smile as she flustered about closing the door, I felt the familiar shivers envelope my body.
She was my girl.
Making our way to the car we eagerly got inside as we began to chat excitedly about the goings on of the past few weeks and how much we were looking forward to the meal.
Firing up the mighty engine I drove us off the neighbourhood and onto a quiet back road that would lead us to a quaint little lakeside town just a few miles away, this was where I’d booked the meal for the night. Brielle didn’t know it yet but we’d be sat in a restaurant straight overlooking the lake, I had to be thankful that the weather was still tonight, not only for the views we’d have over the lake but also if I managed to find the courage, I had a special gift planned for her.
