The air was sharp and cold that morning in the Moonlight Pack compound, mist curled around the pine trees like a shroud. Yet against such a serene backdrop, the group moved with purpose. They had a plan, and every moment counted.

Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok headed towards the elders' wing different building located deeper within the compound. A respectful place, it was reserved for those who were of a senior nature over others in the pack. Walking, Namjoon's mind rapidly ran with questions that would hopefully force the truth from the pack's tight-lipped mouth.

"I'll lead," Namjoon said quietly, his eyes darting from Yoongi to Hoseok. "But if you catch anything I miss, don't hold back."

"Don't worry," Yoongi said, his tone dry. "I plan to keep my eyes wide open."

Hoseok nodded, calm but serious. "Let's just hope they slip up.

As they drew closer to the building, a larger wolf stood waiting at the door. She was tall, with a lined face and piercing eyes that seemed to see right through them.

"I am Elder Eun," she said. Her voice was firm, though not unkind. "I was told you wished to speak with us."

Namjoon bowed his head. "Yes, Elder Eun. We've come to understand more about the circumstances surrounding our father and Mrs. Choi's deaths. Their loss affects us all, and we want to make sure their memory is served by finding out the truth."

The gaze of the elder stayed on Namjoon for a while before she said, "Very well. Follow me."

And with that, the three exchanged a look and stepped inside.

Taehyung and Jungkook trudged out to the periphery of the Moonlight Pack's territory, the thick layer of pine needles beneath their feet silencing the sounds of their movements. It was cold, the trees close.

"This place is too quiet," Jungkook murmured, his voice very low.

Taehyung eyed around him, eyes caught at random by small shifts within the underbrush. "It is as if they are attempting not to let us see something.

"Or they've already cleaned up whatever mess there was," Jungkook added grimly.

As they went deeper into the woods, Jungkook hunched at a tree, his fingers brushing over deep grooves in the bark. "Claw marks. Fresh."

Taehyung knelt beside him, his brow furrowed. "These don't look like rogue marks. Too deliberate."

Jungkook stood, his expression dark. "It's staged. They want us to think rogues were here, but the marks are too precise to be from a random attack."

Taehyung nodded, clenching his jaw tighter. "Let's keep going. If they're hiding something, there's bound to be more evidence.

Jimin stayed in the main hall, his movements casual but intentional. The room was more subdued now, as many pack members were busy elsewhere, but his keen eyes scanned every corner and every shadow.

He leaned against a column, feigning interest in the carvings etched into the wood. In truth, he was watching two pack members who had been whispering near the kitchen door. Their words were low, but the tension in their body language was unmistakable.

When one of them glanced his way, Jimin offered a disarming smile, his posture loose and relaxed. The wolf hesitated before quickly ushering the other away and disappearing into the back corridors.

"Suspicious," Jimin muttered to himself.

He straightened up and started to follow, his footsteps light, deliberate. The corridor was dimly lit, the smell of old wood and faint remains of herbs from the cooking area wafting in. He turned around a bend, coming full circle, face-to-face with Beta Hyeon.

"Can I help you?" Hyeon asked politely but firmly.

Jimin smiled easily. "I was just admiring the architecture. Your pack's hall is impressive."

Hyeon's gaze didn't waver. "I'm glad you think so. But perhaps you'd be more comfortable in the guest quarters until dinner."

Jimin's grin widened, though his eyes remained calculating. "Of course. I wouldn't want to intrude."

As he walked away, he felt Hyeon's eyes boring into his back.

Back in the elders' wing, Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok sat in a sparsely furnished room, facing Elder Eun and two other elders. The air was thick with tension, the silence stretching as Namjoon carefully chose his words.

"We understand that rogues have been a persistent issue in this region," Namjoon started. "Do you have any records or recent reports that might help us piece together the events leading to the attack?

Elder Eun folded her hands, her expression neutral. "The Moonlight Pack has always been vigilant in defending its borders. The attack on Alpha Dae Hong and Mrs. Choi was a tragic anomaly. The council has the relevant records now."

"An anomaly?" Yoongi repeated, his voice sceptical. "Rogues don't usually attack without reason.

One of the other elders fidgeted, a man with a greying beard. "It's possible the rogues were acting under the pressure of outside forces, perhaps the influence of another pack."

Namjoon leaned slightly forward. "Do you have evidence of this outside influence?"

The elder hesitated. "No hard evidence, just.suspicions."

Yoongi narrowed his eyes. "Convenient.

Elder Eun's eyes sliced at him, keen and unrelenting. "This isn't something to jest with. We take the loss of our guests very seriously, and any implication that we aren't being forthcoming is. ill-advised."

Namjoon lifted his hand, his voice measured. "We're not here to accuse. We are here to find answers. And the best way to find the answers is by openness about everything."

The room was suddenly steeped in uneasy silence.

That evening, back in their quarters, all the pairs shared what they had found.

"Someone is trying to cover their tracks," Jungkook said. "We found contrived evidence at the borders, trying to make it appear that rogues are responsible, but nothing seems to add up.

In the hall, two wolves were acting suspiciously," Jimin added. "And Hyeon stopped me before I could follow them. He's keeping a close eye on us."

Namjoon nodded, his face grim. "The elders were tight-lipped. They mentioned suspicions of outside influence but offered no proof. They're either complicit or afraid to speak the truth.

Yoongi crossed his arms, his expression dark. "This pack is rotten to the core. If we're going to uncover the truth, we'll need to push harder."

Namjoon's eyes hardened. "Then we push. Tomorrow, we split up again. But this time, we go deeper. They've hidden something here, and it's only a matter of time before we find it.

The group nodded in unison, their resolve unshakable. The Moonlight Pack's secrets wouldn't stay buried much longer.
