The sun was low in the sky, casting long shadows over the pack's meeting room. The air inside was thick with an unspoken tension. The group had gathered at Jin's request, their usual camaraderie replaced by a heavy silence.
Namjoon stood at the head of the room, arms crossed. His face was calm, but his eyes betrayed the weight of the discussion ahead.
Jin cleared his throat. "We need to address something that can't wait any longer. With everything that's happened, it's clear this pack needs a single Alpha. One voice to lead us."
The declaration hung in the air like a storm cloud.
Yoongi was the first to speak, his tone dry but cutting. "And I'm guessing you have someone in mind?
Jin's eyes flickered briefly to Namjoon before returning to the group. "This isn't about me deciding. It's about what's best for the pack."
"Best for the pack?" Taehyung echoed with a small, mirthless laugh. "You mean decide which of us has to step back?"
Jungkook shifted in his seat, his jaw tight. "There's just no way this ends without someone feeling like they don't belong here anymore.
Namjoon raised a hand, his voice low but steady. "Enough. We all knew this was coming. The truth is, a pack can't thrive with multiple leaders making decisions. We've done well so far, but the cracks are starting to show."
Hoseok leaned forward, his usual warmth tempered by a rare seriousness. "Namjoon's right. The Ironfang Pack, the Moonlight betrayal's only going to get harder from here. We need clear leadership.
Leadership?" Jimin said, his voice sharper than usual. "Or someone to have the final say while the rest of us follow orders?"
The room fell silent.
Yoongi had been leaning back in his chair, and now he sat forward. "Let's not sugarcoat it. This isn't just about the pack; it's about us. We've fought together, bled together, and now you're saying one of us has to take control while the rest fall in line?"
"That's not what I'm saying," Namjoon said evenly. "But the reality is, we can't keep operating like this. We need structure.
"And let me guess," Taehyung said, his voice tinged with sarcasm. "You're the one who thinks you're best suited for the role?"
Namjoon's jaw tightened. "If you think I want this, you're wrong. But I'm willing to do it if that's what the pack needs."
Jungkook stood, his fists clenched. "So, that's it? We just let the strongest wolf—or the one with the most authority—decide our future?"
This isn't about strength," Hoseok said, his voice firm. "It's about vision. Responsibility. The Alpha has to be someone who puts the pack above all else."
"And you think that's Namjoon?" Jimin countered, his tone acidic.
"I think Namjoon has stepped up," Jin interjected. "This isn't about one of us coming forward. This is a matter of all of us concurring on who will better fit the role.
Yoongi scoffed. "Agreeing? That's rich. Look around, Jin. We can barely agree on dinner some nights, let alone who gets to be the Alpha."
Taehyung rose from his seat, his expression uncharacteristically serious. "I've followed Namjoon's lead before, and I respect him. But if being Alpha means ignoring what the rest of us think or feel, then I'm not sure I can get behind that.
Namjoon's voice hardened. "You think I'd ignore any of you? After everything we've been through?"
"That's not what he's saying," Hoseok said, trying to mediate. "But the point is, this decision will change everything. We need to be honest about what that means.
I'll tell you what it means," Yoongi said. "It means whoever takes that title will have to carry every mistake, every failure, every loss. And the rest of us? We'll have to live with knowing we weren't the ones strong enough to take it on."
The room fell silent again, Yoongi's words cutting through the tension like a blade.
He looked down, his voice much softer now, but brimming with emotion. "We've always been equals. Brothers. How do we come back from this if one of us becomes? more?"
Jin stepped forward, commanding attention without raising his voice. "Enough. This isn't about breaking us apart. It's about keeping the pack together. Do you think this is easy for me to say? To see the people I care about at odds like this? But this isn't just about us anymore. It's about the pack's future.
Namjoon looked around the room, his eyes meeting each of them. "This isn't a decision I want to make for you. But we need to face the truth. The pack needs one Alpha."
"Then maybe we take a vote," Jimin suggested, his tone cold.
Hoseok frowned. "And risk dividing us even more?"
"Isn't that what we're doing already?" Taehyung shot back.
Jin exhaled heavily, the weight of the discussion heavy on his shoulders. "We don't have to decide this now, but we cannot avoid it forever. Just think about what you want for yourselves and the pack."
The group broke up slowly, tension lingering in the air like a storm breaking.
Jungkook caught up to Yoongi outside the room. "Do you think that we can really do this? Pick one of us and just. move on?"
Yoon-gi looked at him, his face expressionless. "I don't know. But whatever happens, we'd better be ready for it."
On the other side, Taehyung and Jimin walked abreast, their voices low.
"This is going to tear us apart," Taehyung muttered.
"Not if we don't let it," Jimin replied. But even he didn't sound convinced.Namjoon stayed behind in the meeting room, his hands resting on the table. Jin lingered near the doorway, watching him carefully.
"You think they'll come around?" Jin asked.
Namjoon sighed. "I don't know. But I hope so. Because if we don't figure this out, the pack isn't the only thing that's going to fall apart."
Jin nodded solemnly. "Then let's make sure we figure it out before it's too late."
Outside, the pack was carrying on, none the wiser to the storm that brewed inside their leaders.
