The days after the confrontation passed in a haze. She had withdrawn into her shell around the brothers and submerged herself in training and chores. She was polite but cool, saying little and not engaging in any conversations of substance. On the surface, it might appear all right, but it was apparent there was something amiss.
Namjoon had been the first to notice the slight change in YN's behavior. Her eyes no longer lingered on him with the warmth they used to. She was always a little too busy, a little too engrossed in her work, and when she did look at any of them, her gaze was guarded.
They tried to give her space, but they couldn't deny the growing concern in the back of their minds. Every moment they spent away from her, it was like the feelings they'd had for her were building in intensity. What at one time had been quiet affection turned darker. They couldn't stop thinking about her.
And YN? She felt the distance between them, but she couldn't shake the feelings that surged through her whenever they were near. The ache in her chest when she looked at them, the weight of emotions she couldn't name was all-consuming. She told herself she needed to keep control. She couldn't afford to let them in again, not with everything that had happened.
But no matter how hard she tried to push them away, the pull was undeniable. The longer she kept her distance, the stronger it became.
It started small: a headache here, a strange sensation in her spine there. But as days passed, more and more was YN beginning to notice the changes. She'd wake in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat, her pulse racing. Her senses felt sharper, more attuned to the world around her. First, she had thought it was just the stress, the tension between her and the brothers. But soon enough, she could no longer ignore the fire growing inside her.
It wasn't far off, the transformation that she had been told, had started. The subtle yet sure signs of this transformation going on were there - her body ached in weird places, her skin tingled as though stretched, and every time her eyes landed on one or both of the brothers, her heartbeat raced a fraction faster, her thoughts darker and more possessive.
It was not only her body that had started to change, her mind also was being overcome by the intensity that she could not gain control over. When they were near her, all that was going through her mind were them. She tried with focus, training, trying to busy herself, but it wasn't easy resisting such an overwhelming pull.
And the brothers-while they noticed the changes in her-were starting to realize something else. Something far more dangerous.
One evening, after a particularly gruelling training session where YN seemed distracted and overly tense, Namjoon gathered the brothers together in his office. They sat around the table, the atmosphere thick with unspoken words.
"We need to do something," Namjoon began, low, yet commanding. "She's pulling away from us, and it's not just because of what happened. Something's wrong."
"I've noticed it too," Yoongi said, his gaze serious. "The way she's been acting. She's fighting it, but she's not going to be able to much longer."
"She's close to the second transformation," Hoseok added. "I can feel it. The shift in her energy, in the way she reacts to us. It's not just physical—it's mental too."
She's scared," Jimin said quietly. "She's distancing herself to protect us, to protect herself. But the more she does that, the harder it's going to be for her to fight it."
"I think we need to keep her close," Jungkook said, his tone firm. "If we let her keep pulling away, she might just go through it alone. We can't risk that.
Namjoon nodded, slowly, his face set. "We can't let her push us away. We need to make sure we're there for her, every step of the way. But we need a plan.
The brothers looked at each other, the awareness of what had to be done hanging between them. Neither could let YN face this transformation alone. They needed to keep her close, even if it blurred the line between protection and obsession.
"We'll take turns," Taehyung said, his voice even but with an edge of something darker. "We'll keep her close at all times. Let her think it's for her safety, but we'll be there for every moment of it. She won't be able to push us away if we're always by her side."
But we need to be careful," Jin cautioned. "We can't let her think we're forcing anything on her. She's already withdrawn. If we push too hard, we might lose her for good."
"I agree," Namjoon said. "But we can't just stand by and let her go through this alone. She'll need all of us. We're her pack.
And so they set their plan into motion: the brothers were ever watchful, never distant. They would see her through the process, doing whatever was necessary to keep her afloat so that she would not succumb utterly to the chaos of the powers.
But what none of them could have predicted was just how far their feelings for her would go, how their need to protect her would turn into something more. Something darker.
