Facing the Past

Besides eating this delicious bread, I'm also listening to a miller cry. He keeps sobbing endlessly and can't get a word out. He had short brown hair, red eyes (due to crying), and a long brown cloak. All of us were sitting awkwardly across from him quietly munching on our bread, surprisingly he didn't seem too startled when we appeared in his house out of thin air.

He just looked at us, blinked, and started crying again as he slid a plate of delicious smelling bread towards us. I guess he didn't know that food can bring comfort, not like I'm complaining. But, I should offer him the last piece of bread and ask why he's upset, it could also let us know what story we're in.

"Um, sir. Do you want one of your delicious breads? Maybe you want to let out what happened?"

Robin scoffed as he took a bite out if his bread. "Katie, guys don't like to talk about their feelings. They usually just become obsessed with something dumb and get over it."

"That's stupid," Selena remarked.

I sighed as I nodded to the miller. "So, do you want to talk about it?"

The miller wiped his tears off and blew his nose with a tissue from his tissue box. Selena poofed him one after he started to let even more tears out, good thing she did.

"It's-it's just that-I'm...I'm a terrible parent," the miller stuttered.

"Did the kid get in jail? Don't sorry, I'll distract the guard and Jordan will break him out."

Jordan glared at Robin. "Why would I commit a crime for you?"

Robin sighed. "You always were the goody-goody, no wonder you don't have a girlfriend. Chicks dig bad boys."

"Guys, not that it matters, but Jordan's dating Katie," Snow said.

Robin blinked and he looked at me with irritation evident in his expression. He rolled his eyes. "Whatever."

The miller cleared his throat. "No, I-I-I did something...much worse. I-lied to the King about something and he took my daughter!"

"What did you tell him?" Briar asked.

"I told him my daughter could spin straw into gold, I thought it would make him impressed and I'd become his duke or lord, or something."

"You totally get the award for bad parenting," Selena said.

I gave her a warning glance and turned my attention back to the miller. "Look, you made a mistake, but-"

"You'll get my precious daughter back?" The miller asked hopefully.

"Whoa, we didn't say that. We have another problem to deal with," I tried to say politely.

"And it's way more important than getting back a girl who was practically shoved to the King, lying about a way to make easy money? Really?" Robin said.

I made a little grunt. I was sick and tired of his rude behavior, is this the real Robin my friends always talked about? What happened with the sweet Robin who slow danced with me? Where was that Robin?

"Well, we know that she's in that castle overlooking the hill," Selena pondered as she walked to the window and peeked out.

Snow gasped. "Selena, there's no way we're going over there. We have to find Morgan Le Fay and get that key before Ms. Sierra does."

"The key to the end of the story might be over there, it will move us to the next story and catch up with Ms. Sierra and help someone."

I was amazed and shocked, where was the snobby, sarcastic, and blunt girl I knew so much? Selena does have a good heart underneath that cool and bad girl shell.
