Katie's POV

"You can't do this to me! You will never get away with this-" Dorothy argued until I slapped a piece of duct tape on her mouth. She struggled against the rope binds on a stone pillar in the witch's room, Toto paid no attention to the hostage situation of his owner and was busy cleaning himself with his tongue, gross.

"Got the shoes?" I turned to Jacob, I was officially ignoring Dorothy now.

"Yep," Jacob said as he held up the silver shoes in his hands. "Now we can use them to move on to the next story and stop Sierra." Jacob started to give me the shoes (the door was in Kansas because the story ended when Dorothy finally makes it back home) but I stopped him with my hand held out.

"Jacob," I ignored the momentary flinch of when I called him by his first name. "I'm not going to stop Sierra, I already told you that I'm going home."

Jacob's eyes were filled with something I had seen before, disappointment. "Katie, you're the Chosen. The magic elders specifically chose you in order to stop Sierra from controlling your friends and loved ones, don't you realize that without you, all of the fairytales are doomed? Sure there are FC's with extraordinary talents and magical powers but the prophecy stated says that only you can stop her. If you run away, it's pretty much guaranteed that Sierra will win and you can say goodbye to-"

"Wait," I stopped him mid way and walked up to him. "What's going to happen to Ella? Robin, Jordan, Snow, my friends if Sierra gets that key?"

"When Sierra gets the key, she'll be able to immobilize the FC's with a special magical substance and force them to do whatever she desires. Their eyes will glow blue and their emotions will freeze, they'll be like puppets ready to obey whoever possesses that key," Jacob described specifically, his eyes looking into the distance with horror.

I sighed, trying to comprehend what he was saying. "So, I'm the only one who can stop Sierra? I just find that so hard to believe, I'm just a mortal who is the typical nerd. Well that's not entirely true, I do stink at math and struggle at science. And I did have friends, a pretty close group of buddies."

"Katie, this was your destiny. Like it or not, you have a responsibility. If you run away from your problems, others will suffer for it. You've told me that you've made friends with the FC's, if you really care about them, you'll stop running."

I glanced at the shoes that were sparkling due to the dim light in the room. I started thinking of my best friend Ella, she had been supportive of me since day one when I first arrived at my fairytale high school. Jordan was a popular guy who would've treated me like a princess if I liked him back, Selena took some getting used to but she also grew to like me, Briar appreciated how nice I was to her and joined my side...all of these people were my strength and they would do anything for me. I even thought about Robin and how he always made me blush, our romantic moments, and how I wanted to get to know him better.

I knew what the right thing was, and a goody-goody wouldn't back down from that. "Alright but if we're going to do this, we need to reunite with my friends who originally sent me home and join forces. I know they'll be happy to see you since you're the vice principal of the school."

I slipped on the shoes and grabbed Jacob's hand. I clicked them 3 times and said out loud, "There's no place like Kansas, there's no place like Kansas, there's no place like Kansas," as that was where the door was located.

"Well, maybe not Robin Blake. I've had to sit with him in the office plenty of times, I think I can scold him on the way for a prank he did just before I got kidnapped," Jacob replied as he waited for the shoes to take us to the door.
