When Truth Hurts

Chapter -14

"Then why do you have my adoption papers?" Jungkook asked.

The room fell into a heavy silence hearing Jungkook's words. They didn't know what to say. Jin looked very shocked, and the others were confused.

"What... what do you mean?" Jin finally managed to say, still cupping Jungkook's face.

"Hyung, remember that time you bumped into me while you were holding your files and papers?" Jungkook said,his voice was small.

Jin's hands dropped from Jungkook's cheek as memories flooded his mind.

Flashback ~
Jin was walking to his room, holding a stack of papers and files. Suddenly, Jungkook bumped into Jin and this made all the papers and files fall to the ground.

"Oh my God, Jungkook! How many times have I told you not to run?" Jin exclaimed, dropping to his knees to gather the papers. "Are you alright?"

"I'm sorry, Hyung!" He said ,as he bent down to help pick up the scattered papers, his eyes landed on a blue file that had slipped slightly open. A piece of paper inside caught his attention-his name was written in bold letters at the top. Curious, he hesitated before picking it up.

"Hyung..." Jungkook began, but his voice faded as he read the words on the paper.
"Adoption Certificate."
Time seemed to freeze as Jungkook's heart started pounding in his chest. His fingers trembled as he held the document.

" Jungkook?" Jin asked." I asked are you fine?"

Jungkook quickly shut the file and handed it back to Jin."I didn't see you there.I.. I'm fine!" He said and ran away from there.

"Jungkook!" Jin called. "I just told you not to run!" But Jungkook had already run away to his room.

Jin stood up, shaking his head. "This boy..." He muttered. "What am I going to do with you?"

End of flashback

The room was tense as everyone stared at Jungkook, in shock and confusion.

Jin looked like he had just been struck by lightning, his face pale as his lips parted to say something, but no words came out.

Namjoon glanced between Jungkook and Jin, his voice trembling as he managed, "Wh... what...?"

But before Namjoon could finish his sentence, Jungkook cut him off, "That's the file, Yoongi-hyung, the one you were searching for, right?" He looked at Yoongi.

"What?" Yoongi asked shocked and scared.

Jungkook smiled softly. "The blue file, hyung. You said you couldn't find it. Isn't this the one you were talking about?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Kook. What file?" Yoongi said shaking his head.

Jungkook' nodeed ."I heard you and Jin hyung talking about that file when I got back from my self-study class."

Flashback ~

Jungkook stepped off the bus and went towards his home. And when he approached the front door of their house,he slowed his steps when he heard voices inside.

"What's wrong with people? Everyone's losing things lately! Yoongi, did you check properly?" Jin said irritated.

"Of course, hyung, I did," Yoongi replied .
"Then where is it?" Jin snapped, "You know we can't let that document get into Jungkook's hands. He can't find out... he can't know he's not our biological brother."
