𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘'𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐅𝐋𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 were almost there, where else would there be ice bergs and ice islands other than the North Pole. Frankly, Kya was anxious, she didn't really know whether or not she wanted to go back home. It had been a long time.
8 years.
She hadn't been home in eight years, she left still a kid and now, now she was always 16 years old. It felt odd. But she couldn't wait to see her sister. Her father even more.
Her hand trailed idly along Appa's fur as she stared into the horizon. Would it be the same? Would she be the same? Would her father's hug feel just as warm? Would her sister still want to talk to her?
The truth was, Kya wasn't sure.
Her heart ached at the thought of seeing her father again, his stern but kind face smiling as he welcomed her home. She wondered if he would recognize her now. The last time they embraced, she barely came up to his chest. Now, she was taller, stronger, maybe even wiser.
"What's got you so quiet?" Sokka's voice pulled her out of her thoughts. He leaned against Appa's saddle, chewing on a strip of dried jerky.
"Nothing," Kya lied, her voice softer than she intended.
"Doesn't seem like nothing," Sokka said, squinting at her. "You've been staring at the same iceberg for, like, an hour. Something on your mind?"
"Sokka we're in the middle of the ocean and we're moving. I wasn't staring at the same iceberg." said Kya.
"I was just asking," said Sokka crossing his arms.
Kya sighed, "I'm sorry it's just, we've been travelling for so long."
