𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓 Kya's flushed cheeks as as Appa soared through the gray sky. Below them, a vast forested swamp stretched out, shrouded in fog. It looked dark and in Kya's opinion uninviting.
Kya sat quietly, braiding parts of her hair while Xiang focused on marking their maps. Sokka sharpened his machete with a whetstone, and Katara studied a scroll. Aang, however, stared intently at the swamp, almost as if he were in a trance.
Kya glanced at Xiang, who hadn't spoken much since they left Omashu. His parents had been proud of his decision to help Aang, but Kya could tell he still felt torn about leaving them behind.
As if sensing her gaze, Xiang looked up and offered a small, sad smile.
"Hey. . ." he said. He didn't really want to talk, surely she'd understand but in the short amount of time Xiang had known Kya, he knew she was too kind to leave him alone to deal with his own thoughts.
"Hey. . ." Kya replied softly. "Uhm Xiang, are you⎯."
Before Kya could say more, Xiang tried to throw her attention off of him as he noticed Appa was slowly descending. His eyes flickered to Aang, who seemed to still be lost in thought. Frowning, Xiang nudged Sokka's shoulder and gestured toward the young Airbender.
Sokka turned to Aang. "Hey, you taking us down for a reason?"
Aang didn't respond. He continued staring at the swamp, eyes distant.
"Aang?" Sokka tried again, louder this time. Aang blinked, snapping out of his trance. "What? I didn't even notice."
