The news about Akane's suicide attempt spread like wildfire, but connecting to her previous state and record, she is now being called an attention-seeker.
"People are trash"
Aoi sighs leaning back on the chair of his classroom and looking at his phone. It was recess.
To the world outside, she had become an "attention-seeker" but Aoi and the people who saw her that night knew the truth was far more complex. He tucked his phone away.
"It's easy for them"
he thought bitterly.
"They've never walked a mile in her shoes"
Across the aisle, a few classmates giggled.
"Fair enough, what are entertainers? Animals at a circus"
He sighs putting his phone in his pocket and walking out of the classroom, hands in his pocket. He sat at a bench outside inhaling fresh air and clearing his mind up. He heard footsteps. Opening his right eye and glancing, it was Takuya who plopped down beside Aoi.
Takuya- I can't believe what people are saying about Akane. It's like they've forgotten she's a real person
Aoi- They think they know her just because they've seen a scene from a show
Takuya- She deserves better than this. She's not an attention-seeker
Aoi- They don't know her...
Takuya leaned back on the bench.
Takuya- How is she now? After the news...
Aoi- She's better than before...still in her room mostly
Takuya- People think they can just judge someone based on a single moment of weakness. Like it defines them
Aoi ran a hand through his hair, trying to push back the thoughts that always seemed to swirl around his mind.
Aoi- You know what they say, right?
He says clenching his fist.
Aoi- 'Attention-seeker.' Like that's all she is. It's that simple
He let out a humorless laugh, his eyes not meeting Takuya's.
Aoi- It is as if people don't have reasons for the things they do. They just slap a label on it and move on, then new viewers come in and the cycle continues
Takuya- Yeah, I get it. It's easier to label people than to try to understand them. But that doesn't make it right
Aoi- No, it doesn't. People think they've got her figured out like they know her whole life just because they've seen a few scenes. A few moments. They don't see what's behind it...
His voice trailed off.
Aoi- behind it...
His gaze became distant as a memory surfaced. The cameras are always watching the reality show. The moments were caught on tape but never shown to the public. Behind the scenes, after the slap, the raw moments that no one had ever seen.
Takuya- What?
Aoi- On reality shows, the cameras are everywhere, you know? Always rolling, always catching everything, even when the audience doesn't see it. The raw stuff that never makes it to the air
Takuya- What do you mean?
Aoi- What if...Yuki forgave Akane after that slap? If she didn't she wouldn't have come to the department that night. There must be a scene that wasn't aired just for the sake of the show
