Aoi stared at the screen in shock, he was watching Ai, no, his sister.
"I knew she was capable"
Aoi smiled faintly. As the credits began to roll on the latest episode his phone buzzed. It was Takuya.
. Yo, Aoi! Next time, let's skip school and go play baseball with my neighbor's friends. Are you up for it? We are short of a player
Takuya was someone who'd always managed to find a way to lighten the mood, even if it wasn't exactly what Aoi wanted to hear right now. Aoi didn't hesitate.

A break sounded good, though- something normal, something without the weight of his usual work.
.Come on, it'll be fun. We'll grab a drink after, I promise!
Maybe, he could use a little distraction.
.I said 'K'
Aoi set his phone down and leaned back further into the couch. He didn't usually let things like this get to him, but the weight of the past few weeks was starting to wear on him.
The door to the kitchen opened, and their mother entered, carrying two plates of food. She smiled when she saw Aoi, her usual warmth filling the room.
Mother- You okay, Aoi? You've been quiet today
Aoi looked up, meeting her gaze, and for the first time in a while, felt a little lighter.
Aoi- Yeah, just... thinking
Mother- Well, dinner's ready, so stop thinking too much. Come eat
Aoi gave a small nod, standing up and walking toward the table.
Aoi sat in silence as his mother set the table, his thoughts swirling. His mind replayed the conversation from years ago
Aoi- Mother, I've been wondering...
Mother- yes dear, what is it?
His voice was lower.
Aoi- Who is my father?
His mother paused, her hands stilling for a moment as she heard the question.
Mother- What brought this up, Aoi?
Aoi- I've been thinking
Mother- You know, he never wanted to stay. After the divorce, he didn't even try to fight for you. He only wanted Akane. But she was scared... she wanted to stay with you
"I know that,"
That is what he thought.
Mother- But, Your father was... an older actor. His name was Yamaguchi Ichizo
"That old drama actor?!"
Mother- He was... very well-known back in his prime
He had always wondered who his father was in the back of his mind.
Aoi- What happened?
His mother took a deep breath, her voice trembling as she spoke, but she didn't avert her gaze.
Mother- When Akane was 2, She was with her granny while I and her father went to a party after his success in directing a film...it was the night, he took advantage of me...threatening me and blackmailing me
Aoi paused. Their mother sighed, sitting down slowly across from him. Her hands, still slightly shaking, clasped together on the table as she struggled to find the words.
