Prompt: Sorcha put the wrong gift under the tree.

It was supposed to be a simple, cozy Christmas gathering—just Sorcha and Clodagh's families, a bit of cheer, a ton of food, and of course, the annual gift exchange. They'd decided to do things a little differently this year: each would exchange two sets of gifts. One for the family to open, and the other... well, not exactly for public consumption.

Sorcha had been meticulously wrapping the presents the night before, carefully sealing each one in shiny paper and ribbons. She'd learned her lesson a few years ago after mistakenly giving Clodagh's dad a very personal gift (which led to some awkward dinner conversations). She was determined to get it right this time.

Or so she thought.

The morning of the exchange, the living room was filled with the hum of holiday excitement. Quinn, sweet and sleepy, was tucked in a basket of soft blankets by the fireplace, her tiny face lit up by the glow of the tree lights. Clodagh's family was already there—her brother sipping coffee and asking about her latest work projects, while her parents chatted with Sorcha's folks.

Sorcha, with a proud grin on her face, placed the gifts under the tree—completely unaware that, in her rush, she had mixed up which was which. One set of gifts was safe for the whole room to see: a lovely scarf, a cute handmade mug. But the other... well, it contained a set of much more intimate items meant for Clodagh's eyes only.

The exchange began with the usual cheerful chaos—everyone unwrapping presents, exclaiming over socks, homemade treats, and funny mugs, Quinn gurgling happily as her aunts and uncles cooed over her. Sorcha was feeling pretty good, until her brother-in-law, laughing, tore into the second package under the tree. He paused mid-laugh, the room going silent for a moment as he pulled out... lingerie.

Clodagh's eyes widened in horror, and before Sorcha could react, her brother-in-law held it up like a trophy. "Well, this certainly wasn't on the gift list!" he joked, earning a mixture of nervous laughter and snickers from the room.

Sorcha's face went from red to crimson as she tried to explain herself. "Oh my God, I mixed them up," she stammered, her hands shaking as everyone else burst into uncontrollable laughter. Clodagh, trying to hide her own growing giggles, reached over to grab the embarrassing package back from her brother, muttering, "We really need to label these better next time."

And as if on cue, Quinn woke up just in time to let out a loud gurgle of laughter, her baby giggles somehow more contagious than anything else in the room. It was all too much—Sorcha couldn't hold it in anymore. She started laughing too, embarrassed but unable to stop herself. Her mom slapped her hand over her face, shaking her head with a grin.

"Well, I guess this is one way to spice up the holiday season," Sorcha muttered between laughs, her face buried in her hands.

Clodagh, wiping her eyes from laughing so hard, shrugged. "At least we know what you got me for Christmas," she teased, her voice full of affection. Sorcha only groaned, but deep down, she knew that this would be the Christmas they would always talk about—because who could forget that holiday mix-up?
