39 the Thanksgiving ball

Leo's pov 

so we are back home from  helping the French mafia,  the Thanksgiving ball is in a few hours, and the girls are getting ready. Rose isn't mad at me for making her come with me just to stay in the house with the others, so I don't know  what to do. But Rose is my date for the ball tonight. I hope everything will go to plan; we don't need another accident to happen. 

A little bit later in the day, a maid came to tell me that she had given Rose her dress and that it was time for me to go get ready, so I went to change.

Me and the boys are still waiting for the girls to come down so we can go. 

After a few minutes, we heard the sound of  heels on the floor, so we turned to see all the girls looking as beautiful as ever. 

“Wow you look gorgeous la mia Regina  (my queen)," my father told my mother.  “ Thank you, my mio marito (my husband), you also look handsome,” my mother said. 

The others complimented each other as I was in my own thoughts. When I heard  someone walk up to me, it broke  me out of my thoughts to see Rose there. 

“ You look nice,” I said. “ Thank;  you, you look alright, I guess” she said as she walked away. “ Alright, let's go before we are late” I said as I walked out of the house.

After an hour drive  we were at 

the ball  talking to the other guests. 

I was talking with the other mafia boss about some business deals. I look around to see Rose talking with some girls who look familiar, but I'm not sure who they are. After a while  the American boss walked on to the stage. 

    “ Good evening everyone, welcome to the annual Thanksgiving ball;  as everyone knows, there are a few new faces here tonight. I hope you all have a great time tonight,” William said. 

“ So do you know any of the new faces,” William asked when he came back over. “ I know a few I can introduce you to if you want,” I said. “ That would be great,” William said.  

So I told him to follow me. We walked up to Rose; she was by the drinks

         “ Hey Rose, I have someone I would like you to meet,” I said. “ Hey Leo, I would like to meet this someone,” Rose said sarcastically. “ Rose, this is William  William. This is Rose” I said. 

“Hello there, Rose, you are very beautiful, " William said. As he kissed the back of Rose's hand. “ Hello William, thank you, so how do you know  Leo,” Rose asked. “  We work together sometimes. How does a beautiful lady like you  know Leonardo,” William asked  “ Oh, he is my best friend, Cousin,” Rose said as she looked at me. “ Oh, so you two are not a couple?” William asked. “ no” me And Rose said as one. “ Ok, I get it anyway. I'm going to go talk with some of the others; have fun,” William said as he walked away. 

After a while  of Rose and I  standing in  Awkward Silence, I asked her if she would like to go look for the others, so we are currently looking for the others when we finally find where they were. We all talked for a while. Then Matteo asked Lia to dance so they went to dance then the others followed 

“ Would you like to dance,” I asked. 

“Sure why not? It's better than sitting here,” Rose said as she stood up. 

As  we walked to the dance floor, we started dancing to torn by Nathan Lanier. Rose leaned her head on  my chest as we started to sway to the music. I felt my heart skip a beat. Why does she do this to me when we are close? Maybe I shouldn't make her hate me.  As we dance I could tell that she is one of the most important people in my life, but I know it's not safe for her with me but then again I could keep her safe with me. When  the song came to an end, Rose pulled apart and took the warmth with her.
