After freeing Sarah, they hopped in his car and chased after the white Ford truck.
Blaine's sirens blared as he sped down the highway. He was gaining on the white Ford truck, but it was clear that the driver was experienced and wasn't going to give up easily.
Blaine's eyes were fixed on the truck ahead. He was determined to catch up to it and finally get some answers.
Just as he was about to catch up to the truck, it suddenly swerved off the road and onto a dirt path. Blaine followed, his tires skidding on the loose gravel.
But as he rounded a bend, the truck was nowhere to be seen. Blaine slammed on the brakes, his eyes scanning the surrounding area.
"She got away," Blaine muttered to himself.
He quickly called dispatch to report what had happened. "I've lost the truck, where's the backup I ordered?" he said.
As he was talking, Blaine's phone beeped. He looked down to see a message from the police station.
"Our systems have been hacked," the message read. "We can't access our systems."
Blaine's eyes narrowed. This just got a lot more complicated. They rushed back to the station and found the station in utter disorder.
The police station was in chaos. Officers were running around, trying to figure out what was going on. The computer screens were all dark, and the phones were dead.
"What's happening?" one of the officers asked, looking around frantically.
"I don't know," another officer replied. "We can't access our systems nor our computers."
The police chief stormed out of his office, looking furious. "Get our tech team on this, now," he barked.
But it soon became clear that the police station's tech team was in over their heads. They were trying to restore the systems, but it was clear that they were dealing with a highly sophisticated break.
"We need to call in an expert," one of the officers said.
The police chief nodded. "Get Mai on the phone," he said. "She's the only who can handle this right now."
Mai was a brilliant hacker who was known for her ability to track down even the most elusive cyber criminals.
The officer nodded and quickly dialed Mai's number. After a few rings, Mai's voice came on the line.
"Mai, we need your help," the officer said. "Our systems have been hacked, and we can't seem to get them back online."
Mai's voice was calm and confident. "I'm on it," she said. "I'll be right there."
The officer hung up the phone and turned to the police chief. "Mai is on her way," he said.
The police chief nodded, looking relieved. "Good," he said. "If there's anyone who can handle this, it's Mai."
As they waited for Mai to arrive, the police station remained in chaos. Officers were trying to do their jobs without the aid of computers or phones, and it was clear that things were going to be tough for a while.
"What's going on?" Sarah asked the officer on duty.
"I don't know," the officer replied, looking worried. "It looks like our systems have been hacked."
And then, Sarah pocket vibrated. A message on her phone, flashing in red letters.
"Jamin is in the hospital," it read. "He had a heart attack."
Sarah's heart skipped a beat. She had to get to Jamin.
Without hesitation, she made a run for it, pushing past the officer and out of the station. She sprinted down the hallway, determined to get to the hospital and see Jamin.
As she burst out of the police station, Sarah hailed a taxi and jumped in. "Take me to the hospital," she said, her voice urgent.
The taxi driver looked at her in the rearview mirror. "Which hospital?" he asked.
Sarah thought for a moment. "Queen Ingrids Hospital."
The taxi driver nodded and stepped on the gas. Sarah sat back in her seat, her heart racing with worry. She had to get to Jamin.
As they sped through the streets, Sarah's mind was filled with thoughts of Jamin. What had happened to him? Was he okay?
After what felt like an eternity, the taxi finally pulled up to the hospital. Sarah jumped out and sprinted inside, her heart pounding in her chest.
She rushed up to the reception desk. "I'm looking for Jamin," she said. "He was brought in with a heart attack."
The receptionist looked up at her. "Let me check," she said.
Sarah tapped her foot impatiently as the receptionist checked the computer. Finally, she looked up.
"Jamin is in room 304," she said. "I'm not sure but I think he is unconscious."
Sarah's heart sank. She took off running, sprinting down the hallway to room 304.
She burst through the door, her eyes scanning the room for Jamin. And then she saw him, lying in the bed, his face pale and drawn.
Sarah's heart broke as she rushed to his side. "Jamin," she whispered, taking his hand in hers.
Jamin's eyes flickered open, and he smiled weakly at Sarah. "Hey," he whispered.
Sarah's eyes filled with tears. "Hey," she replied, squeezing his hand tightly.
Jamin's eyes closed again, and Sarah could see the pain and exhaustion etched on his face. She gently squeezed his hand.
"Jamin, can you hear me?" she asked.
Jamin's eyes flickered open again, and he nodded slightly.
"What happened to you?", Sarah asked, trying to keep her voice calm.
Jamin's eyes clouded over, and he winced in pain. "I...I don't know," he whispered. "I remember talking to Grace, and then...and then I felt this pain in my chest."
Sarah's grip on Jamin's hand tightened. "Why would you do that?" she asked.
"Someone said she might know something very important. I need to talk to her."
Jamin's eyes closed again, and he took a deep breath. "I...I think I passed out when speaking to her", he whispered. "The next thing I knew, I was here."
Sarah's eyes filled with tears.
"Jamin, I need you to stop please", Sarah said, her voice gentle but urgent.
Jamin's eyes flickered open, and he looked at Sarah with a serious expression. "Mom, I don't think I can do that," he whispered. "You can't stop me I have to see her."
Sarah's heart skipped a beat. "Please, I don't want you to get hurt again."
Jamin grip on Sarah's hand tightened. "Don't worry, mum," he said. "Just please stay safe. Greet those little idiots for me yeah"
Jamin's eyes closed again, and he nodded slightly. Sarah sat there, holding his hand, and trying to stay calm.
"Sure Jamin", Sarah said. An overwhelming amount of sadness came over her, she began to cry.
