41.1 - Tsuna & Guardians

When Sawada Tsunayoshi first met the girl named Fujimiya Satsuki, it was their third day of middle school classes. She caught his eye due to her interrupting his bullies during one of their "Let's bully Dame-Tsuna!" sessions.

She had commented lightly that the fearsome prefect Hibari Kyoya was coming as she walked past them and around the corner. That comment made the ones surrounding Tsunayoshi freeze and scatter like someone had thrown a rock at a group of chickens. Tsunayoshi sat on the floor, slightly confused for a moment before he saw the girl round the corner again and hold a hand out to him.

"You okay?" She asked. He saw the disciplinary armband pinned to her sleeve and flinched back, having already had a run in with the infamous disciplinary committee this morning when he ran up to the gates of the school three seconds after it had closed.

The Demon Prefect, Hibari Kyoya, had greeted him with a glare and a threat before Tsunayoshi scrambled away, having squeezed through the small crack that the other members had made for him. The image of his gakuran sitting over his shoulders with the disciplinary committee armband clipped onto the sleeve made quite the impression on him and his reaction was more impulse than logical.

The girl stopped, seeing his gaze trained on her arm and chuckled lightly. "Don't worry, I'm not as bloodthirsty as Hibari-senpai is. I'm one of the more nicer ones."

At her laugh, Tsunayoshi's face turned red in embarrassment. He scrambled up from his sitting position, not taking her hand. "T-thank you."

She offered him a small smile, lowering her outstretched arm. "It's no problem. I'll see you, Sawada-san."

The girl had turned and walked away, not looking back as Tsunayoshi let out a quiet "How did she know my name...?"

He got the answer to his question quickly after he asked himself that, realizing that she was in his class and was at the desk diagonally to his left. Amongst all the jeering and side remarks towards his presence in class, he was able to ignore them for once, seeing how the girl glared at his bullies in disgust. She was one of the few that didn't bully him, along with Sasagawa Kyoko whom Tsunayoshi had a crush on.

He learned her name during roll call that same day. Fujimiya Satsuki.

A few months into the year and they didn't talk past pleasantries. Tsunayoshi's life became chaotic as he met a terrifying baby named Reborn, learned that he was supposed to inherit an Italian mafia family named Vongola, gained a few friends - albeit reluctantly, and learned that he had a type of power that can help him protect his new friends.

Amongst this, Fujimiya became the temporary manager for the baseball team and interacted with Yamamoto a little more due to their new connection. She had also missed class a few days, mostly the days where his tutor had to shoot him with the dying will bullet. She had been away for a few days when Yamamoto jumped off the roof of the school building and she wasn't around when Gokudera was throwing around bombs at the back of the school.

The one rare day she had joined them after school, was the day that changed everything. Tsunayoshi stood at the door where Fujimiya was laying, unconscious. She didn't get directly injured in their squabble with the Varia but she ended up unconscious when the smoke had cleared.

This is your fault. A voice whispered in his head. Tsunayoshi felt a lump rise in his throat, the guilt rising in his chest. He shook it off, walking out of the room and back to his friends who were recovering a few doors down.

After Fujimiya discharged from the hospital, she had changed. It wasn't too noticeable but she started making comments here and there about the things that have been happening around the group, she started hanging around them more often and started calling Tsunayoshi "Tsuna", the nickname that everyone was calling him.
