The soft caress of fingers stirred me from my sleep, and I felt a familiar tingling warmth spreading across my arm. The faint, melodic chirping of birds reached my ears, their early morning songs blending with a cool breeze that drifted in through the open window. Sunlight bathed my face, and for a brief moment, I lay still, eyes shut, soaking in the serenity that enveloped me.

When I opened my eyes, I was instantly met with Egon's warm and loving gaze. He was watching me with a softness that made my heart skip a beat.

A smile immediately tugged at my lips, and I felt his lips brush against mine in a sweet, lingering kiss. As he pulled back slightly, he grinned, his voice warm with affection. "Good morning, love. Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, very well," I replied, my voice still thick with sleep. "And you? Have you been awake long?"

"A while," he replied, his smile not wavering. "But I always sleep well when you're in my arms."

His words made my smile grow wider, and I instinctively snuggled closer to him, pressing my body against his as he tightened his hold on me.

I gazed out the window at the breathtaking mountains in the distance, their sharp peaks surrounded by waterfalls that tumbled down, flowing into the immense lake below. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and for a long while, we stayed there in peaceful silence, both enveloped in the calm of the moment.

However, not long after, Egon sighed, the sound almost reluctant. "As much as I'd like to stay here, I really have to go. I can't keep my pack waiting any longer. I've already postponed the training twice this morning."

I sat up with a jolt, pulling away from him in surprise. "Egon! You should have said something sooner! Your pack will think—"

Egon's smirk was playful as he reached for me, pulling me back into his embrace. "I think they're more likely to be relieved. Normally, I expect everyone on the training field before dawn. The wolves with mates are probably especially grateful for the extra time. I used to think their reluctance to be on the field was a sign of laziness, but now I understand why they didn't want to be on the field with me."

He pressed his lips to my forehead. "You're the reason I never want to leave this bed."

I chuckled, shaking my head as I tried to wriggle out of his grasp, though he held me tightly. "That's easy, blaming me."

He grinned mischievously. "It's true. You're far too tempting."

I laughed again, trying to wriggle out of his embrace once more, but his strength was unyielding.

Suddenly, he flipped us over, pinning me down on the mattress with a sly grin. His body hovered just above mine, and although he ensured his weight didn't press down on me, it felt as though I were caught in a cage of his warmth and presence.

"Egon," I said, laughing as I wriggled beneath him, "you have to get out of bed."

He let out a low growl, his voice deep and husky as it brushed against my ear. "But I don't want to go yet."

"Your pack is waiting for you," I reminded him, my voice a little firmer.

"They can wait a bit longer," he muttered as his lips brushed against my skin.

I tried once more to push him off me, but it was useless. He was far too strong, and my attempts only made him chuckle softly. Changing tactics, I tried again, this time with more authority in my voice. "Egon, get out of bed!"

He raised an eyebrow, his smile widening as his eyes darkened slightly. "It's exciting when you're bossy like that. I like it."

Rolling my eyes, I sighed. "You find everything exciting."
