The next morning, Arin found Namjoon in the living room, lost in thought. She approached him, a mischievous expression on her face. "Joonie!" she shouted.
Namjoon looked up, startled. "Oh, h-hey there Ri. You scared me!"
"I need to talk to you," she demanded, her expression swiftly changing to a cold one, her acting skills in full use.
"Uh w-what? Now?" Looking at the clock, he continued, "Oh, would you look at the time! It's getting late for practice, we should go now, otherwise Hobi will get mad at us. Everyone else left already!" Saying that he ran out of the dorm.
"HEY! WAIT FOR MEEEE NAMJOOOOON, YOU PIECE OF SHIT! STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM ME," she screamed as she quickly wore her shoes, locked the door behind her, and ran after him.
***
After that morning, Arin tried many times to get Namjoon to talk to her, but he kept avoiding her. At that point, she was starting to get frustrated. She only wanted to speak to him, but he kept making excuses and running away. She knew she had to confront him, once and for all.
So she laid out a trap for him. She hid behind the door of their shared studio, waiting for him to come in. After what seemed like a long time, he opened the door and entered the seemingly unoccupied studio, and she quickly closed the door behind him and locked it.
He flinched at the noise and turned around, only to see Arin standing there, leaning against the shut door, hands crossed in her arms. "Finally," she said, her voice too calm to be true. "We need to talk."
"What are you doing? I need to go out. The boys are probably looking for me," he insisted, his voice rising.
"I'm not leaving until we talk. The others can wait, I'm sure," Arin replied. "Sit down."
Namjoon sat down on the leather couch, his shoulders slumped. He knew he couldn't avoid this conversation any longer. Arin sat on the chair, opposite to him. She took a deep breath and began to speak.
"So, let's begin. You kissed me yesterday and then ran away without an explanation. Why?" she bluntly asked.
Namjoon hesitated. "I don't know," he admitted. "I just...felt like it."
Arin scoffed. "That's not an answer. You can't just kiss someone because you felt like it and then run away without explaining yourself."
Namjoon sighed. "I know and...I'm sorry," he said.
"I can't accept your apology if you can't explain the main reason why you kissed me," she countered. "A simple apology won't solve things between us. You even took my first kiss. I...I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel right now."
Namjoon was silent for a moment. He knew he had played with Arin's feelings, and he didn't know how to make things right. Finally, he spoke, "I'm sorry, RiRi. I know I don't have a good excuse. I was just...confused, I suppose. I'm sorry."
Arin was still confused, but she could see that Namjoon was genuinely sorry. She decided to give him another chance. "Fine, I forgive you," she said. "But you need to be more careful in the future. Don't just do things without thinking about the consequences."
Namjoon nodded. "I promise I'll be more careful," he said. After a moment's silence, she asked, "But...I still wanna know what had happened to you yesterday. And why it happened?"
Namjoon looked at her, startled by her question. He'd thought they were done talking about this. "Oh, it's n-nothing," he said, trying to brush it off.
"No, it's not nothing," Arin insisted. "You kissed me and then ran away without saying a word. I need an explanation."
Namjoon sighed. "I-I had a dream about you," he admitted. "It was a really...intense dream, and I...I confused it with reality."
Arin was surprised. Out of all the things in the world, she hadn't been expecting his answer to be about some dream of his. "A dream? What kind of dream?"
Namjoon hesitated. "It's...complicated," he said. "I don't know how to explain it."
Arin frowned. "Hey, you can't just kiss me and then leave me hanging...wanting...for more. What do you want from me, Namjoon-ah?"
Namjoon was silent for a moment. Then, he took a deep breath. "I like you, Arin, and I...I want to be with you," he said. "I want to be more than friends." Arin was stunned. She had never thought that Namjoon saw her in that way...romantically. She didn't know how to respond.
"Oh, this is very...uhh unexpected. I don't know, umm—" she was beginning to say when Namjoon cut her off.
"I understand if you don't like me. You don't need to. Just...forget whatever happened yesterday. It was all a mistake."
"No, no, it's not that," Arin said, her voice soft. "I just need some time to think about it. This is all just...very sudden, you know?"
Namjoon nodded understandingly. "Of course," he said. "Take all the time you need."
They sat in silence for a quite some time. Finally, Arin broke the silence. "I think I like you too...a bit. But maybe...we should focus on our friendship for now. We're still starting off in the K-pop industry and I don't want us to get distracted. We can't afford getting more hate from the general public. Let's try to make a name out of ourselves first?" she requested. "But we can still be friends, right?"
Namjoon smiled half-heartedly, his dimples showing. "Of course," he said. "We'll always be friends." Saying that, he hugged her tightly.
As they pulled away, both of them felt a pang of sadness. They knew that this was the right decision because right now, their career was their number one priority, but it still hurt. But they couldn't help hoping that maybe one day, they could be more than friends.
As they walked home together with the other boys, they talked about their dreams and aspirations. They laughed and joked, and for a moment, Arin forgot about her worries. She was grateful for Namjoon's friendship, and she only hoped that their bond would only grow stronger over time.
A/N: GUESS WHO'S BACK???? YOUR GIRL!!! My exams finally got over yesterday, and as I promised you a new chapter a few days ago, here you gooo.
Okay so chapter recap. Arin confronts Namjoon and he tells her almost everything that happened that night (except the dream, oop-) and he tells her that he likes her. She realizes she also likes him (but not as much as she likes Seokjin) but they decide to be friends and "forget" about these feelings cuz it might interfere in their idol life. Hahaha, yeah very nice confrontation, don't you think so?
Also the title is actually the name of a song Namjoon made back in 2013 and it just kind of fit this chapter according to me. Does it actually fit or should I put some other song?
Anyways what do you want the next chapter to be about? I have an idea to make y'all cry but we'll see I guess- Stay tuned to find out. Vote and comment, if you liked this chapter. Byeee.
