Her reason: Bellamy Blake

Chapter 23

 "You are grounded, go to our room" I point at Bellamy and he scoffs. 

"You're being ridiculous" "No, I'm being a doctor, you need to rest" 

"Come with?" He asks and I glance at Daniel. "Yeah, give me a minute" he nods and I walk to Daniel. 

"Doctor duties call, catch you later?" I ask and he smirks. "Yeah, enjoy your boyfriend" 

"Eww" I gag as he winks. I catch up to Bellamy offering my hand as he dramatically leans against me. "You're fine" I push him off me but he ends up on me again. 

"I'm in pain, don't hurt your poor patient" "Well if you listened to me you wouldn't be hurt" I huffed out opening the door and walking in. 

He shuts the door and turns to me grabbing my face with his hands. "Thank you for protecting me" He murmurs and I swallow the blush wishing to creep up. 

"So did you find Clarke?" I ask and he nods. "She was being held captive, some grounder did this" "You still trust her?" I ask laying down on the bed. 

"Yes" I stay quiet. "Do you like her?" I ask and he looks confused for a moment before a smirk creeps on his face.

 "Who's jealous now?" "Not jealous, curious. There's a difference "

"No I don't like her, I like her like a friend which you'll have to get used to because you hate her guts "

"True" I agree as he lays down next to me with a flop. "We're going to be ok right?" He asks. 

"Why wouldn't we be?" I turn laying on my side. "I don't want things to change" He whispers. 

"Things have to change, it can be for the better. Monty has his mom, Miller has his girlfriend and I found Daniel. Change can be good Bellamy "

"Can other changes be ok too?" He asks. "What do you mean?" I ask and his eyes drift to my lips. I feel frozen. 

"Amy I-" The door slams open and I jump into a sitting position. "Farm Station is here, what happened to your leg Bell?" Octavia asks and Bellamy glares hard at her. 

"Stabbed, lets go" He lets out a breath of agitation. I stand up and offer my hand as he takes it and we walk out. "Melantha, I need you" Abby runs up to me. "What's up?"

 "Farm Station might need help" I bit my lip hard. They might not even be there. They aren't here. We walk over as they start filing in and loved ones run up and hug each other. I see Miller holding his boyfriends hand with a bright smile on his face. 

"Look at Mil" I say and Bellamy smiles as well at the sight. 

"Melantha Rose!" 

no, no, no, no. 

Everything stops. I'll remember that voice until the day I die. 

The voice that is the cause of my nightmares. And he's running for me. I flinch expecting to get hit hard when my arms wrap around me. Ah, gotta keep up the whole happy family thing. I freeze, making no move to hug back, showing that I care. 

"I was so worried, how are you my dear" He pulls back and places a hand on my face which I brush off stepping back the fear in my stomach and body is nothing like we've faced with being on the ground.

 "Who's this?" Bellamy says his voice low, grabbing my arm and pulling me back. 

"Excuse me young man, is a dad not allowed to hug his daughter?" He steps closer to Bellamy and my eyes widen. 

He won't hurt him. He won't. 

"Oh Nathan calm down, the boy is just obviously protective of her" I close my eyes at the voice. 

"Mother" I say and she smiles, grabbing my face. "You've gained a bit of weight haven't you?" 

"Excuse you" Bellamy steps forward fists clenching. 

"Stop it" I hiss, pushing him back. "I'm fine, go and rest" He stares at me for a long moment wanting me to change his mind.

 "Go" I say lower and he shakes his head. "No, not unless you come with me. Are those your parents?" "Go" I say again. He makes no move.

 "Hey Abby, George's leg needed checked out" Abby looks at Bellamy's leg and drags his arm and pulls him away. 

"Who's the boy? Do we need to deal with him?" My father says. 

"You don't touch him" I say dangerously.

"Why? Don't tell me you actually like him?" My mother lets out a laugh. "Have we taught you nothing, no one will ever love you girl, no one" My lip shakes. No, that feeling is coming back. 

"Don't cry" My father scoffs, pinching my cheek as I flinch and step back. I'm so scared. 

"Mel, help me real quick" I move before I even know who's calling me. I look to see Kane and reach him fast. "What's up?" I ask, my voice shaky as I bite down on my tongue. 

"Who are those people?" He asks, leaning close. "My parents" I swallow hard and he stiffens.

 "Do th-do they hurt you?" He asks. It's almost amusing. Not one person my whole life on the Ark noticed yet two people did in the first few minutes. 

"No" I lie, they will kill me if I tell the truth. Hurt me and then kill me. "Mel we've gotten pretty close in these past three months, I would like to think I'm someone you can trust"

 "All due respect sir, I don't trust anyone" His face falls and I walk off hiding myself in my room.
