Today is a special day. It's my baby's birthday.

He turned three, and Jermaine and I were throwing him a party.

We sent him away for a couple of hours to my brother's house.

It's a surprise, and we don't want it getting spoiled if he stayed home.

Derrick came to the house bright and early to help me set up with decorations.

The party is not intended to be huge. I invited my brother, my sister in law, my cousin, niece, and a few of her cute little friends.

As we finish up the decorations, the song I can't feel my face by Abel plays on Derrick's speaker.

I change it immediately, and he looks at me as if I ruined his favorite song.

"Hey! I was jamming. Why did you do that for?“

“No reason, i'm just over music.“ I lie.

“Really? You over music? Bitch please.“ He says lowering his eyebrows.

“Fine, you caught me. I've tried everything not to think of him. I can't listen to his music if I want to do that.“

He grins. “What's the tea?“

"We kissed. It's no big deal.“

“No big deal? It's a big deal if you can't even listen to his music without freaking out.“

“Can we not talk about this? We both are dating someone. It shouldn't have happened.“

“But it happened.“ He says nonchalant.

I sigh. “It was a mistake, I love Jermaine.“

It's been a month since I last saw Abel.

I heard he's out of town and seeing a model named Bella.

I've received messages from him but I have been too afraid to open them.

Before Derrick can say anything, the door opens.

Jermaine walks in, leading two guys dressed in blue uniforms. They politely greeted us as they made their way to the backyard.

"Who are those guys?" Derrick asks in confusion.

“They're here to set up the intex inflatable jump o lene thingy.“

His eyes widen. "No way, how cool! I'm jumping once it's set up." He says, sounding like a little boy.

I laugh.

"You're such a big kid.“

“Being a grown-up is too complicated sometimes. Let me be a kid for a minute.“

"Hey." I hear Omen's familiar voice say.

"Hey." Derrick and I both said at the same time.

In came Bas, Omen, Cozz, Ibrahim, Ced, and Ron, whom I only met once before.

They all had birthday gifts in their hands for Xavier.

"Where do I put this shit?" Cozz asks, carrying a big present in his arms.

"Over there." I say pointing to a table.

The pile of presents grows massively as they all add their gift to the table.

"I can't believe that little nigga Xavier turned three today." Omen says.

Cozz nods an agreement. "Not too long ago I remember him turning one."

I smile widely. "My baby is growing so fast.“

"I love that little kid. He's aging so well it's too bad he looks too much like his daddy.“ Derrick disses.

I shove him playfully. "His handsome daddy, and don't you forget it."

Derrick scrunched up his face.

"Where is Jermaine anyways?" Bas asks looking around the room.

"He's out back.“

The guys rush to the backyard.

I change clothes and Derrick curls my hair.

After that we leave to pick up Xavier's cake.

It's a medium chocolate dragonball z cake with mini toy figures on top. 

I make sure everything is ready from food, drinks, and snacks.

"Stefany!" I hear Derrick yell.

I walk to the back door where he's standing.

"What's up?"

"I'm not the only one who wanted to jump on that thing. Look at your man and cozz. They're big kids, too.“ He says, watching proudly.

I watch as they wrestle each other like idiots while the other guys are cheering them on like it's a real wrestling match.

"Yeah, only he looks cute, and you don't." I say.

“You're going to look real cute in a second. Jermaine! Stefany wants a match!“ He yells at him.

“Don't be shy, come over here, baby.“ Jermaine says, waving me over.

I laugh. “You guys are going ruin that thing before Xavier gets a chance to play in it.“

Jermaine ignored what I said, he comes sweep me off my feet and carried me to the jump o lene. He removes my shoes and throws me inside.

I scream as he playfully performs wrestling moves on me while everyone laughs.

At one point, he's on top of me, and we share a kiss.

The birthday surprise was a success when my baby walked in the front door. His face lights up with the biggest cutest smile in the entire world.

Jermaine and I raised him right when he hugged and thanked everyone.

His eyes widened when he saw the pile of presents on the table for him.

"Mommy, are those all for me?" He asks, looking up at me with excitement.

"They're all for you, baby." I say bending down to his level.

"Yay! can I open them?"

I nod. "You can open them later."

"Okay," he says, hugging me.“You look beautiful, mommy."

I hug and kiss him. "Thank you, baby, you look handsome birthday, boy."

"I love you, Mommy."

I pick him up. "I love you too, baby."

He's gotten heavier.

"Awww, he's so sweet." Kade chimes in.

Kade and I eat while I let Xavier jump for a little while before I fix him a plate.

"Did mom and dad call you?" He asks.

"Yeah, to wish Xavier happy birthday.“

"They called me too, but dad asked me if Abel's been around. What's that about?“

“Nothing.“ I say dismissively.

"As your big brother, you should take my advice and leave that man alone. I don't want him to hurt you.“

“You have nothing to worry about, now drop the conversation.“ I say.
