Jermaine

I'm usually up early, but last night I couldn't sleep after seeing that message on Stefany's phone.

I got little to no sleep and i'm tried but i'm not going back to bed.

I can smell the aroma of food in the air that leads downstairs in the kitchen.

I wash my face and brush my teeth. When I look in the mirror I look like hell and I feel like I got ran over by a train twice.

I grab Stefany's phone that is surprisingly still sitting on the night stand.

I stop to check on Xavier down the hall before I head downstairs. He's still asleep.

The smell of the food is making my stomach growl, but I don't know if I could stomach food. Strolling into the kitchen Stefany narrowed her eyes at me.

There's no doubt she's still upset with me, but that's quickly going to change.

There are three plates on the counter that contains eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles.

“Are you done being petty with me?“ I ask leaning against the counter.

I watch as she turns her back to me for a quick second to grab cups out of the cabinet. She fills them with orange juice before responding.

“Obviously i'm not.“ She mumbles.

"Alright.“ I say as I slide her iphone across the counter. It gently hits her arm.

Stefany looks down at her phone and reads the message in front of her with her eyebrows furrowed. She swallowed hard, wishing she was imagining the text but it's fucking real.

I see the fear of her not wanting to lock eyes with me.

“You said yes to my proposal yesterday and this what I get the same night? You've been seeing another nigga. The same nigga who showed up to our vegas hotel. You said I was overthinking the situation. Did you fuck him?“ I ask.

"Of course not. The kiss just happened, but it didn't mean anything.“ She says looking down.

“Kisses always mean something. This makes me believe you don't know what you want. proposing was my mistake.“

She finally looks up at me.

"Jermaine I love you, I want to be your wife more than anything.“

“Bullshit, you're just playing with a nigga's emotions like i'm an action figure.“

"It was wrong of me, but I realize nothing is as special than what we have.“ She says.

It's ironic that she used be the one worrying about me messing with hoes. I used be the one cheating and hiding it from her. I changed for her, but now the tables have flipped. It's a bitter taste of what she had to deal with. It's not fun at all.

I reach over to slide the ring off her finger but she moves her hand away quickly.

"What are you doing?“

"You don't need it anymore.“ I say nonchalant.

I attempt to take it again as tears roll down her face. She begs me to stop, but it's too late.

I succeed in taking it off her finger.

When she tries to strip it away it flies out and lands into the kitchen sink.

We both rush to it, but it went right down the drain.

"Get me that ring back." She says with teary eyes.
