Taehyung’s scars had completely healed now, though the memories still lingered faintly in Jungkook’s mind. Jungkook lay with his head resting on Taehyung’s lap, his eyes closed but his thoughts restless. Taehyung’s gentle fingers combed through his hair, the soothing motion easing Jungkook’s tension bit by bit. The silence between them was warm, but Jungkook couldn’t help himself from breaking it.
“What is love, Tae?” Jungkook’s voice was quiet
Taehyung’s hand paused for a moment before resuming its soothing rhythm. His gaze drifted to the window, his expression thoughtful. “Love…” he began softly,
“isn’t always what we hope it will be. Sometimes, it’s beautiful and uplifting, and other times, it’s painful and hard to understand.and it give you scars that hard to heal”
Jungkook opened his eyes slightly, gazing up at Taehyung.
“Then what’s the point? If it hurts, if it leaves scars… why do we even call it love?”
Taehyung’s eyes met his, calm but deeply empathetic. “Because even when it hurts, it teaches us. Love isn’t always about holding on it’s about knowing when to let go. It’s about understanding that someone can matter to you deeply, but they might not be the person meant to stay in your life forever.”
“So… love can end?” Jungkook asked
Taehyung nodded, his tone gentle but firm as if he was hiding his own pain .
“It can. And that’s okay. Sometimes, love is meant to shape us, to show us parts of ourselves we didn’t know existed. But it doesn’t mean it’s any less real or meaningful. Even love that hurts can leave behind something valuable.”
Then Jungkook’s voice was a whisper, filled with confusion and emptiness.
“Really? Even if we don’t feel love, even if it’s hollow and empty, even if we’re stuck between what love is or is this love? even If we don’t feel anything, does love still exist in us?”
Taehyung paused, his fingers stilling in Jungkook’s hair. For a moment, it seemed like he was weighing the question, as if the answer wasn’t simple, as if the complexity of love required more than just a quick response. He looked down at Jungkook, his eyes soft but filled with understanding.
“Love doesn’t always feel the way we expect it to,” Taehyung finally said, his voice steady but kind.
“Sometimes, love isn’t about the intense emotions or the fiery passion. Sometimes, it’s just there, quietly. It exists in the moments when you think you’ve lost it, when everything feels empty. Because love isn’t just a feeling it’s a presence. It stays, even when you don’t feel it. It’s in the way someone stays beside you, even when they don’t know how to show it.”
Jungkook shifted slightly, his eyes meeting Taehyung’s with a mixture of confusion and curiosity. “But what if we can’t see it?
Taehyung’s smile was small but sincere. “Then it’s time to look deeper. Love doesn’t always announce itself. It’s in the quiet moments, in the small acts of care, in the way someone holds space for you even when they don’t know how to fix you. Just because you don’t feel it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Sometimes, love is quiet, waiting for us to recognize it again.”
Jungkook didn’t say anything. His mind was still swirling with questions, but for now, he didn’t have the strength to voice them. Instead, he simply closed his eyes, letting the silence settle around him. He felt Taehyung’s lips press gently against his forehead, the soft warmth of the gesture grounding him in the moment.
The kiss lingered for a second, and Jungkook allowed himself to relax, to let go. For the first time in a long while, he didn’t feel the weight of the world on his shoulders, didn’t feel the emptiness that had been gnawing at him. The darkness that had always surrounded his thoughts began to fade, consumed by the calm that Taehyung’s presence brought him.
