He felt Safe
**************
The moment Taehyung saw Jungkook standing there, his entire body reacted before his mind could catch up. His legs wobbled, his knees nearly buckling beneath him as he took a shaky step forward. His vision blurred with tears, his chest tightening with overwhelming relief.
And then he ran.
Blindly, desperately, he stumbled toward Jungkook, his breaths coming out in ragged gasps. The moment he reached him, he collapsed into his arms, gripping the fabric of Jungkook’s shirt like it was the only thing tethering him to reality.
A broken sob tore from his throat as he buried his face into Jungkook’s chest, his entire body wracked with uncontrollable trembling.
“j-Jungkook—Jungkook, I was so scared,” he choked out between harsh, shuddering cries. His fingers clutched tighter, as if letting go meant losing himself again.
“They—They wouldn’t let me go—”
Jungkook’s arms wrapped around him tight. So tight, as if he could shield him from everything, as if he could erase every second of what had just happened.
His grip was firm yet gentle, a silent promise that no one would ever hurt him again.
“It’s okay,”
Jungkook murmured, his voice low, controlled, but laced with something dark—something lethal. His hand slid up to the back of Taehyung’s head, cradling him carefully.
“I’m here now. I’ve got you.”
But Taehyung couldn’t stop crying. He was gasping for air, shaking so violently that he could barely hold himself up.
“I—They—They were going to—” He couldn’t even say it. The words lodged in his throat, suffocating him.
Jungkook exhaled sharply, his chest rising and falling with barely restrained rage. His grip around Taehyung tightened for a second before he pulled back just enough to cup Taehyung’s face in his hands.
His wet, tangerine eyes burned with fury, but his touch was impossibly gentle as he wiped away Taehyung’s tears.
“Look at me.” His voice was soft yet firm.
Taehyung hiccupped, his swollen eyes blinking up at him.
“No one will ever touch you again.” Jungkook’s voice was a vow, carved into existence.
“Not while I’m breathing.”
Taehyung believed him.
Taehyung barely registered what was happening around him. His mind was clouded with fear, exhaustion weighing heavy in his limbs as he clung to Jungkook’s warmth.
His body was trembling uncontrollably, and though Jungkook held him close, his touch steady and grounding
Jungkook was there—physically. He was protecting him, comforting him. But beneath that, there was an unsettling distance. A hollowness in his presence that Taehyung was too shaken to fully grasp.
Still, when Jungkook draped his coat around his trembling shoulders, the weight of it felt safe. Like an unspoken promise.
Jungkook’s arm remained firm around him as he pulled him close. “Come on, let’s go from here.”
Taehyung didn’t let go Jungkook. Not even for a second.
His trembling hands clutched onto Jungkook’s coat, knuckles turning white with the force of his grip.
