I'm going to make them pay

Ayla stood as well, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. "Then everything we've been doing... it was all for nothing."

"No," Selene said quickly, her voice firm despite the tremor in her chest. "We've been doing it for the right reasons. For justice. They may have faked their deaths, but they never counted on us—on you—getting this far. They didn't expect us to uncover the truth."

The rage bubbling inside Selene was unlike anything she had ever felt before.

It wasn't just anger—it was a burning need to dismantle the lies her parents had built their empire on. She wasn't just fighting for herself anymore.

She was fighting for everything they had destroyed, for the lives they had stolen, and for the truth they tried so hard to bury.

"I'm going to make them pay," Selene said, her voice low, almost a growl. "This ends now."

Ayla looked at Selene, her expression serious. "We do this together, right?"

Selene nodded, her gaze hardening. "Together."

As Selene and Ayla exchanged determined looks, Ayla's phone vibrated in her pocket, the sudden interruption slicing through the tension in the cemetery.

She frowned, pulling it out, and glanced at the screen. It was Leo.

"Leo?" Ayla answered, her voice cautious.

His voice came through in a hurried, almost panicked tone. "Ayla, listen to me. My parents... they're here. They've landed and made their way to the club."

Ayla's breath hitched. "What? How do you know?"

"I just saw them myself," Leo continued. "They came with a team, Ayla. They're not alone, and they're definitely not here for a family reunion. We don't have much time."

Selene stepped closer, catching the gravity of the situation from Ayla's tone. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice sharp with concern.

Ayla lowered the phone slightly and turned to Selene, her face pale. "Miriam and Ezra Harkins... they're at the club. Leo just saw them."

Selene's jaw clenched, her hands tightening into fists at her sides. "They must know we're onto them. This isn't a coincidence. They're making a move."

Ayla nodded, her pulse quickening. "Leo said they're not alone. They've brought backup."

Selene's mind raced as she calculated their next move. "We need to get back to the club, now. If your parents are there, this could get ugly fast."

Ayla turned back to her phone. "Leo, listen to me. Stay out of sight. Don't let them see you. We're on our way."

Leo hesitated before responding. "Hurry, Ayla. This isn't just about you or Selene. They're here for something bigger, and it's not going to end well if we don't act fast."

The call ended, and Ayla slipped the phone back into her pocket, her hand trembling slightly.

She looked at Selene, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and determination. "What do we do?"

Selene placed a hand on Ayla's shoulder, steadying her. "We finish what they started. But this time, we do it on our terms. Let's go."

The two of them hurried back to Selene's car, the echoes of their footsteps ringing through the silent cemetery.

As Selene started the engine, the thought of confronting Leo's parents—and everything that meant—hung heavy between them.

For Selene, it wasn't just about vengeance anymore. It was about exposing the truth, protecting Ayla, and putting an end to the cycle of manipulation and deceit that had plagued both their lives for too long.
