Ayla, still trying to process everything, followed her in silence, her mind racing. She could see the tension in Selene's jaw, the barely-contained fury in the way she carried herself.

There was no doubt about it—Selene was on the move, and whatever she was about to do would be a dangerous step.

"Stay close," Selene said, her voice low, but there was an unmistakable edge to it. She didn't need to tell Ayla twice.

They left the penthouse and quickly made their way down into the garage, where Selene's black SUV waited. No words were exchanged as they drove through the quiet streets, the tension hanging heavily in the air.

Ayla could feel it in her chest—a sense of impending danger that gnawed at her. This wasn't just about Selene anymore. This was something bigger, something far more sinister.

The drive took them to a hidden part of the city, away from prying eyes.

Selene pulled the car into an underground garage that was barely noticeable, a nondescript building surrounded by tall walls. She parked in the far corner, a place known only to her, and they moved quickly into the building.

Inside, the hideout was dark and dimly lit, the walls lined with monitors and maps—an underground nerve center. This wasn't just a safe house.

This was where Selene had built her empire, where the secrets of the criminal world had been kept, and where the most sensitive information was stored.

As Selene approached the central desk, her hands moved with practiced speed, entering codes and commands into the system. The screens lit up, displaying complex charts, files, and hidden communications. Ayla watched, her curiosity piqued. She had seen Selene's power, but this was different. This was the heart of it all.

"This is where it all started," Selene said, her voice calm but laden with a deep, dangerous weight. "This is where the real power lies." She glanced at Ayla, her expression hardening. "And this is where I'm going to make sure the task force knows they've made a mistake."

Ayla stepped closer, her eyes scanning the information on the screens. What she saw was beyond anything she could have imagined.

Corruption on a level so deep, so intricate, that it seemed impossible to unravel. The task force, far from being a force for justice, was part of a larger, shadowy network—one that spanned both the government and the criminal underworld. It was a web of power, control, and manipulation that had been operating in the shadows for decades, controlling not only the streets but also the highest levels of authority.

Selene's fingers flew over the keyboard, pulling up encrypted files, documents that showed the task force's involvement in illegal arms deals, covert operations, and political assassinations.

There were names—high-ranking officials, influential businessmen—all tied to the task force's nefarious activities. The depth of the corruption was staggering, and Ayla felt a chill run down her spine as she realized just how dangerous this fight had become.

"I've always known," Selene muttered, her voice tinged with something that could only be described as regret. "But I never had enough to expose them. Not until now."

Ayla couldn't tear her eyes away from the screen, the weight of the situation sinking in. "You're going to expose them?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Selene turned to her, her gaze intense. "Not just expose them. I'm going to bring them down. I'm going to make them regret ever going after me, after us." Her tone was cold, resolute.

There was no hesitation in her voice.

She was committed, and nothing would stand in her way.

Ayla's heart raced. She had seen Selene's power, but now, she was seeing the full extent of it. This wasn't just about survival anymore.
