After taking the medicine, the two returned to the hotel. Aiah laid on the bed in a daze, hugging one of Mikha's arms. She rubbed her head against it unconsciously. It wasn't long before she was in a deep sleep.

Mikha let Aiah hug her, using her other hand to swipe at the tablet in front of her. On it was a company file that was just sent over. She had just gotten through the first two sentences when the tablet let out a joyful ping and a string of words appeared on the screen.

[Mom: Video Call]

Aiah turned in her arms, rubbing her face a few times without a trace of an intention to wake up.

Mikha turned back to her tablet and rejected the video call.

[Mom: Where are you? Pick up the video call.]

After pondering for a while, Mikha still wasn't sure how her mom managed to be in her list of Messenger friends. Before meeting Aiah, she basically only used the company messaging app and SMS.

[Mikha: Manila, it's not convenient.]

[Mom: What's inconvenient, are you in a meeting or are you driving?]

[Mikha: Neither.]

The other at once sent another video call request, and Mikha once again declined.

Mrs. Lim sent a sticker over; in it a woman had her lips slightly pursed, weeping buckets of tears, just like a scene in a certain TV show. That crying woman was currently sleeping beside Mikha.

She held it for two seconds, but before she could save it the photo disappeared.

[Message deleted.]

Huh?

[Mom: That was a sticker I randomly downloaded.]

Amused by her mother's attempt to dissociate herself from it, Mikha sent an 'hmm'.

[Mom: When are you coming home?]

[Mikha: Is there a problem? You can tell me now.]

[Mom: The Benitez patriarch's birthday is in two days, your dad wants you to go with us to celebrate his birthday.]

[Mikha: I'm not free.]

[Mom: Our families have always been quite close, this is his eightieth, you have to come over no matter what, why won't you?]

[Mikha: I'm staying in Manila for a few more days before going back.]

[Mom: If it's work just let someone take care of it for a while, it's just half a day. What's so hard about it?]

[Mikha: It's not work.]

[Mikha: Your future daughter-in-law is sick.]

Mrs. Lim couldn't help it anymore. She didn't send a request for a video call this time and instead called directly. But Mikha hung up rather quickly too. She set everything to silent mode while at that.

She didn't understand but after she sent that message, her mood improved drastically.

As if remembering something, she got up, went to the balcony and gave her assistant Gwen a call. When she came back there was a cold draft about her. After looking through some documents while sitting there, she put the tablet casually on the bedside table and slowly got under the blankets.

Her hand was quickly taken by the person beside her.

She reached out and touched Aiah's face.

Her temperature was not as hot as before.
