Chapter 46 : Little Liar

Maloi made sure to end the topic about cheating. She kept busy with what she had to do, her mood was very calm and steady despite what she had just been through.

Since the scandal, Daniel had also quietened down, all those little moves he made to irritate and agitate Aiah had suddenly stopped.

The make-up room.

Maloi hung up the Terno Aiah had just changed out of. "He's afraid that you'd get involved in that scandal that is his life and make it a bigger deal than it is, so of course, he won't continue provoking you."

"Who wants to get involved, I just want to be a mute spectator." Aiah used a paper napkin to remove her lipstick and took a bite of the apple. "But this is good too, the filming process is really speeding up a lot."

Sheena sat on the chair, visibly disgruntled.

The past two days had been especially vexing for her, with her Dad rushing her to go back, even booking the ticket so that she shows up for the Benitez family's birthday celebration.

The Benitez family might have been a big deal about a decade ago, but they had been falling behind ever since the patriarch stepped down. The Lim family, on the other hand, had lots of talents, each generation stronger than the previous. Today, the two families were no longer on the same footing. However, the elders, particularly the grandparents' generations, were really close, so although her grandfather had already passed away, with the Benitez patriarch personally coming forward to enthusiastically invite them, her Dad naturally had to attend and bring the entire family with him.

"Tomorrow I have to go back." Sheena ate her bento very half-heartedly as if chewing on wax. "All this time I spent here in Manila was for nothing, I didn't do anything, I just spent it on the set with you guys."

"What's wrong with staying with us at the set?" Aiah said. "You have air-conditioning, you have all the drinks you'd need or want, all your meals are covered. How did we mistreat you?"

"This time when I go back, they will definitely not let me go back here alone again." A petulant Sheena voiced her grievance.

"Then just stay there." Aiah got a bowl of soup. "I can't wait to go back to Cebu."

Mikha had someone send today's food bento to the set; extras were added to everyone else's bento, while Aiah had meat, veggies as well as soup. It was specifically sent to the set to keep them from having to go out and find a place to order take-away from after filming.

Maloi was just eating when the phone beside her rang. These days, she got jitters just hearing the phone ring. After a long while, she fished it out of her pocket unwillingly only to see that it was from the office.

She hurriedly dried her hands and answered the call.

"Hello, what can I help you with?"

"Yeah, she's filming in Manila."

"Soon, she'll be done in a while ... Day after tomorrow? She might not have time, what is it exactly?"

"Why didn't you say this earlier? Now that the scenes have been arranged, how do you expect Aiah to take a leave so last minute?"

"All right, I'll talk to her."

After seeing she had hung up, Aiah looked up and asked, "What is it?"

"The company said that there's a last-minute invitation to an award-giving ceremony." Maloi was a little angry, and her tone irritated. "Evening, the day after tomorrow, and they only inform us now?! How are they doing their work? Do they think that taking a leave can be done in a snap? If you don't want to go I'll reject them right now, this is their mistake, they can't do anything to you even if you don't attend."
