Alright, I'm done with this.
I get up and pay for my dinner. After that, I run back straight to my house.
Am I really supposed to believe what that reaper just said? Glowing angel wine.....
Wow.
I head to my room and lay on my bed. Opening my phone, I see a text from Eun-woo.
"Did you eat?"
Aww. He's worried for me..
You know, these days... sometimes I think maybe he likes me. But, I dont want to get my hopes high up. It will only lead to disappointment.. Also, we're not even fated.
But then again, I haven't checked....
I shoot him a text back, asking when he'll return. He says he'll be back late in the night. Alright.
I bask in the comfortable warmth of my blankets, listening to some music.
Soon, it turns midnight.
Wow... the last day of the year has already started. The end of this fateful year.
I lost my family.. my world.
But I also met Eun-woo, Joon, Sung-Jae and Yoona.. It was a bittersweet year.
Before I know it, tears start falling from my eyes... My family. How I longed to see them.
I want to see them. Even if they dont remember me. Even if they dont have a daughter according to them. They are still my family.
As the clock chimes one, I hear someone entering through the door. Eun-woo.
I dont get up from my bed. But I'm glad that my tears are all used up and I cant cry anymore. I dont want him to see me crying.
He softly knocks the door, then enters.
"Where were you?" my first question.
"Oh. I went to the Office." He answers, sitting at the foot of the bed.
"What for?"
"Some business." He says, smiling a little.
I wanted to know what "business" it was, but I ask him something else.
"Eun-woo. I miss my family. Can we go visit them once?" I say, fighting back the tears.
He stays silent for a brief moment. Maybe I'm mistaken, but there's a slight spark in his eyes the next time he speaks.
"Oh sure! You can spend the new year with them!! It will be great. Wait, I'll call Joon and tell him that you're not coming for that dinner." He says, his words coming out in a rush.
"Hey, wait!" I say, grabbing his arm.
"We can just come back till the evening. Don't call him." I don't know why, but I want to go to that dinner with Joon.
"Oh. Alright." He says.
"Thank you, Mr. Lee." I say, smiling sweetly.
He doesn't say anything and returns my smile. After some time, he bids me farewell and leaves my room.
I have a peaceful sleep, trying not to get too excited about seeing my family.
The next day, Eun-woo and I return to the familiar streets of my locality. Oh, how I missed being here. In a few moments, we stand right outside my home.
"Go." He says with a reassuring smile.
I nod and open the door. My existence is forgotten and they can't see me, so I walk simply like I used to everyday, inside the cozy interior of my house. In the living room, my mom, dad and brother are all sitting together, eating tangerines.
Just like we all used to, together.
Before I knew it, tears start falling. I wipe them off.
No, today is a good day. I got to see my family. They're safe, sound, and happy. What more could I possibly need?
I spend the day with them, sitting beside them as they watch movies, or play games. It feels heavenly. I guess what they say is true. You never know the worth of something until it is lost. I wish I could be here, with them, not invisible to them.
