it was nine pm and olivia was getting home to find aria in her bedroom, painting her nails and on the phone. her smile grew when she saw olivia who kissed her cheek as she started undressing and aria finally ended her phone call.

"i made dinner." aria placed her phone on her stomach, looking up at olivia who stood in her underwear as she went to grab a pair of shorts from her closet.

"oh, you cook?" she asked, making her way to the bed with a smirk on her face. aria just laughed, "i made mac and cheese." she answered and the girl hummed as she crawled onto the bed, finding her way onto aria's lap as she removed the phone from the girl's stomach and putting it aside.

"thank you, chef." olivia leaned over, placing a kiss on the girl's jaw as aria melted into her touch. she tilted her head to give olivia better access as her hands came to rest on the redhead's hips.

"chef? i like that," aria mumbled as she felt the girl's lips trace down to her neck, so soft that it felt like feather touches before the girl finally kissed her lips. "you taste so good." she whispered before she could kiss the girl again, her phone made a noise and she pulled away.

"hey, what's that about?" aria whined while olivia got up from the bed, flipping her phone open as she moved to stand against the wall. "nothing," the redhead mumbled as she started typing on her phone before she shut it and fell down on the bed.

aria knew something was wrong, she could sense it, she reached her hand out and gently stroked olivia's hair as the girl took in a deep breath. "it didn't look like nothing." when olivia's phone went off again, she tried to reach for it but olivia got there first before she shoved the phone into her pocket.

aria laughed to herself as she sat up, "now that's definitely not nothing." olivia followed her lead as she leaned against the wall, her hair slightly moving up behind her head before she sat up and pushed it down. "im having an affair." she teased as she reached her hand out to take aria's into her own.

the girl played with her rings as she spoke, "with your track record, i wouldn't be surprised." aria teased back and olivia paused, slowly pulling her hand away.

"what?" she asked, her voice slightly going up.

"i was making a joke." aria responded, a soft smile on her face as olivia shrugged, "jokes are supposed to be funny." she didn't even realise there was a bite to her tone when she spoke.

aria's brows furrowed as she reached for the girl's hand but olivia pulled away, "i just meant that you've never really been in a real relationship before." she tried to explain.

olivia just shook her head, "yeah but i don't cheat, i don't see the point. if you don't wanna be with someone, just say it. don't be a fucking coward about it." she got up from her bed, walking over to her dresser and grabbing a shirt.

aria was even more confused now, "are you saying you don't wanna be with me anymore?" she got up too, watching as olivia buttoned up the blue shirt she was wearing.

the girl just laughed, "did i say that?" she asked as she turned to aria. "did i say you were a cheater?" she asked in return.

"you implied it." olivia took a step away from aria, leaning against her closet.

aria sighed, crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall. “liv, i wasn’t trying to start anything. it was a joke. that’s all.”

olivia kept her distance, her hand running through her hair in frustration. “yeah, well, it didn’t feel like a joke. it felt like you were pointing out how I’ve never had anything real, like i don’t know how to do this.”

aria’s brows knitted together. “that’s not what i was saying at all. you’re overthinking it.”

“oh, so now i’m overthinking?” olivia’s voice rose slightly, her arms gesturing wide. “do you know how hard it is for me to trust that this is even real sometimes? and then you throw that in my face like it’s nothing.”

aria blinked, her mouth opening but no words coming out at first. she finally stepped closer, lowering her voice. “liv, i didn’t mean it like that. i wasn’t thinking, okay? but you’re making this into something it’s not.”

olivia scoffed, shaking her head as she turned her back to aria, pacing toward the window. “yeah, because everything i feel is just me overreacting, right?”

aria’s patience was wearing thin, but she kept her tone calm. “no, but you’re not even letting me explain. you’re shutting me out, and i don’t know how to fix this if you won’t talk to me.”

olivia stayed silent, staring out the window as the tension thickened in the room. finally, she spoke, her voice softer. “you really think i’m bad at this, don’t you?”

aria’s heart clenched at the vulnerability in olivia’s tone. she closed the space between them and gently placed her hand on olivia’s arm, turning her around. “no. i think you’re scared because you care. and honestly? so am i.”

olivia looked down at her, the anger in her eyes replaced with uncertainty. “really?”

“yeah,” aria admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “because this—us—is the most real thing i’ve ever had. and i don’t want to lose it over a stupid comment i made without thinking.”

olivia’s shoulders dropped, and she let out a shaky breath. “i don’t want to lose it either.” before she could say something else, her phone rang and she pulled it out of her pocket.

"i have to take this." she walked out of the room. when she came back she was quiet, walking straight over to aria, pulling the girl into her embrace.

"im sorry." she whispered, resting her head in the crook of aria's neck, taking in the girl's familiar scent. "im so sorry." she repeated, her eyes closing.

aria wasn't sure what had happened or who olivia had spoken to but she knew that olivia needed her, "it's fine." she whispered back and held olivia closer because she was scared that if she didn't, olivia would fall apart in her arms.
