her feet were on her bed, olivia stared up at the ceiling. it was nearly six pm and she just got home from work, her hands hurt and so did her body. laying on the ground wasn't exactly a genius idea on her part but getting up felt like too much work.

dean was on her bed, looking through a photo album when the door opened, the two of them turning their heads to the door.

aria walked through the door, she was wearing a fedora and olivia found herself grinning when the girl handed her a little brown box. "surprise." she smiled as she looked from olivia to dean who gave her a silent nod.

"im just here so she can tell people she has black friends." when he spoke, he watched as the girl threw a sock at her.

"you're my only friend, idiot."

"that's actually really sad." dean pouted for a second before he said, "anyway," shrugged and went back to what he was doing.

"what is this?" olivia didn't bother him any further, reaching down to open the box. when she opened it, there was a rainbow covered chocolate donut.

"aww, thank you." she was sat now, she planted a quick kiss to the raven haired girl's cheek as she broke it in half.

"so, ive been thinking." aria watched as she handed one half to dean, now leaning against the bed.

"what if i go to pittsburgh with you next time?" olivia seemed to pause her chewing when aria said that, "you know, to see why you like it so much." she added as olivia nodded.

she nodded, almost agreeing with the idea, "that would be nice but, uh, my mum still isn't cool with the whole gay thing."

aria's brows furrowed, "what gay thing?" she asked, a bigger question looming over the one that she had just asked.

"she doesnt know im bi." olivia took a bite of her donut, smiling like a child.

"which is why she said im her boyfriend." dean usually didn't speak before thinking it through but today just didn't seem to be his day.

aria blinked, the weight of dean’s words settling in. "wait. she thinks you’re straight?"

olivia chewed slowly, buying herself a few extra seconds. "i mean… yeah. she has this idea of me, and i just… let her keep it." she shrugged like it was no big deal, but aria wasn’t convinced.

dean snorted, flipping another page in the photo album. "you should’ve seen her trying to explain why i spend the night so often. i think your mom genuinely believes we’re in a long-term, extremely chaste relationship."

"when you spent the night where?" aria was even more confused now.

dean paused again, he intended to lie but when his mouth opened, that didn't happen. "in pittsburgh."

aria looked from him to her girlfriend, "you took him?" there was a slight smile on her face but she didn't seem happy.

olivia took another bite of her donut, "it's not a big deal."

aria’s expression darkened, her fingers tightening around the hem of her jacket. "so, what happens if she finds out?"

olivia avoided her gaze, picking at the edge of the donut. "she won’t."

dean and aria exchanged a look. olivia had a habit of saying things like they were final, like just because she decided something wouldn’t happen, it never would. but aria wasn’t convinced.

"olivia," aria started, carefully, like she was picking her words. "you can’t just—"

"i don’t want to talk about this," olivia cut in, voice light but firm. "here, have some donut." she held up the rest of her half, pressing it to aria’s lips in an attempt to change the subject.

aria sighed, her frustration obvious, but she bit into the donut anyway, chewing as she studied olivia. "you know you’re an idiot, right?"

"that’s what they tell me," olivia said, flashing a grin.

dean rolled his eyes, snapping the photo album shut. "well, if we’re done being emotionally repressed, i vote we watch something. i don’t have the energy for real feelings today."

aria huffed but let it go—for now. olivia had a way of dodging conversations that mattered, but aria wasn’t the type to forget. she’d let olivia pretend for now, but she wasn’t done pushing. not yet.
