dean laid on olivia's bed, eating fries as he watched the girl pack her bags. they were at school when she told him that she was going to leave so he said he would help her pack which was a lie because he basically just ate all the food in their house.
"you know this is the first time ive been at your house." dean noted as he watched the girl fold all her clothes. "and probably the last." he didn't want his best friend to leave but he couldn't bring himself to ask her to stay.
"don't sound so depressed." olivia grabbed a fry as she sat down beside him. "we'll text." she gave him a weak smile.
"until you find another token black friend and i lose my job." the boy groaned and olivia just rolled her eyes as she laid down beside him. "you know you're irreplaceable." she turned to face him and he sighed softly.
"you know im gonna miss you right," he reached over, pulling softly at one of her red curls.
olivia nodded, "im gonna miss you, you're my best friend." he was no longer her only friend but he would always be her best friend.
there was a knock on the door and dean got up to open it. aria was on the other side. "hey dean." aria smiled as she walked in, the boy looking over at olivia.
"bye aria." he gestured a hand for olivia to take him to the door. "ill be right back." olivia gave aria a kiss on the cheek before following dean.
the stopped at the door, both not sure what to say. "thank you for being my friend, i know im an asshole so it must have been hard." olivia tried to smile but it was really hard.
dean scoffed, "you're one of the best people ive ever met, liv." he started, his voice thick with the grief of having to lose her. "and i wish you weren't always so hard on yourself."
olivia nodded, "well, you're like the coolest person ive ever met so that means a lot." she wasn't going to cry, she had already told herself that.
"i know, im soo cool." dean tried to laugh but he couldn't. "take care of yourself."
"you too and don't forget me." she pulled him into a hug, "i don't think i ever could." dean whispered back and they pulled away.
he walked out the door and she shut it behind him. she leaned against it for a moment, wiping away a stray tear.
she walked to her bedroom and found aria sitting on her bed, "you're packing." aria had her legs crossed as olivia went to sit down in front of her bed.
"im leaving tonight." olivia took aria's hands into her own, placing a kiss on both of them.
aria was silent for a moment, "when are you coming back?" she knew it was silly to ask, she wasn't sure if olivia was ever gonna come back.
"im not sure if i am gonna come back." olivia could barely speak, her voice thick with the tears that were probably going to come soon.
olivia cleared her throat, "my family is in pittsburgh." she said softly and aria's eyes brimmed with tears. "but i'm in rosewood, i'm right here." she didn't want to lose olivia.
olivia nodded softly, "i can't stay, aria. i've missed out on too much." she didn't want james to grow up and not know her.
aria took in a steady breath, "i can't wait forever." she couldn't spend the rest of her life waiting for olivia to come back.
she didn't want to lose the love of her life. she wouldn't love again, she refused to love anyone other than olivia. "i'm not asking you to wait cause i know it's hard," olivia's voice cracked slightly, tears streaming down her cheeks. her eyes looked so very green at the moment, like grass after the rain. "i just want you to be happy." she didn't want aria to be miserable because she wasn't there.
"then stay." aria knew it was selfish to ask but she wanted to hold onto olivia, she meant so much to aria.
olivia wiped away the tears from the girl's face, "im sorry, aria." she leaned over, pressing a soft kiss to the girl's lips, "im so very sorry." she kissed her again and aria kissed her back.
"i love you," aria whispered against her lips and olivia kissed her again. "i love you more than ive ever loved anyone in my entire life." olivia said softly, "and i will never love again the way ive loved you."
aria pulled the girl up and into her arms. "im gonna miss you." she felt her tears stain olivia's shirt but she didn't care. "maybe one day ill come back." olivia whispered.
"come back anytime, ill be here." no matter how much time that would pass between them, aria would never stop waiting and olivia would never stop loving her. she hoped that she would be with aria again, one day but she couldn't right now. someone else needed her more.
