Tim's day had been long and exhausting, and as he turned the key in the lock, he was hoping for nothing more than a quiet night at home. He was eager to unwind, to relax, to be with Emma and Ashley. But when the door swung open, and he stepped inside, something felt off.
The house was eerily quiet, and the living room was a mess—scattered toys, overturned furniture, and an unmistakable air of distress. Tim's heart raced in his chest as he called out, "Emma? Ashley?"
His first instinct was to check on Emma. He followed the muffled sobs to the kitchen, and there, huddled on the floor, was Emma. Her tiny body trembled with the force of her tears. She was curled up, clutching her stuffed animal to her chest as if it could shield her from the world. Tim's stomach dropped. He had never seen Emma like this before—so broken, so fragile.
Ashley was crouched beside her, her arms outstretched in an attempt to comfort the girl. But Emma pushed her away, her sobs getting louder. "Don't touch me!" she cried, her voice raw with pain. "Daddy!"
Tim rushed to her side, kneeling down and pulling her into his arms. "Hey, baby," he whispered, trying to calm her. "What happened?"
Emma buried her face in his chest, still sobbing uncontrollably. "Lucie..." she mumbled between her sobs.
Tim's heart pounded in his chest as his mind raced. "Where's Lucy?" he asked, his voice shaking with urgency.
"Lucie left," Emma hiccupped, tears streaming down her face. "Aunt Ashley said Lucie must go."
Tim's blood ran cold. "Shit!" he swore, the weight of the situation crashing over him. He held Emma tighter, trying to comfort her, but the pain was too much for her to bear. He could barely understand what had happened, but he knew one thing: Lucy was gone.
Ashley stood in the doorway, her arms folded across her chest. She looked at Tim, her face hard and unreadable. "I just did what was right..." she said, her voice low.
Tim turned to her, his anger flaring. "Not that!" he snapped. "Louis is out of jail."
Ashley's expression faltered for just a moment, and then she looked away, her eyes avoiding his. "I—I didn't know," she stammered. "But it had to happen. You need to focus on Emma now."
Tim clenched his fists, his mind racing with thoughts of Lucy and the betrayal that had just taken place. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Lucy had left. She had been forced to leave. And all of this... all of this was happening at the worst possible time.
"Shit," Tim muttered under his breath. He needed to find Lucy. He had to make sure she was okay. But first, he needed to calm Emma down.
He gently rocked Emma in his arms, trying to soothe her, but nothing seemed to work. She was inconsolable. "Lucie, Lucie, Lucie..." she repeated over and over again, as if saying her name would bring her back.
"Hey, hey, Em," Tim whispered, brushing her hair from her face. "It's okay. Lucie loves you. She'll always love you. You just have to believe that."
But Emma's sobs didn't stop. She was too upset to understand. And in that moment, Tim realized that he had to find Lucy. He had to fix this. He couldn't let her slip away again.
Meanwhile, Lucy's world had gone from bad to worse. After she left the Bradford house, she didn't know where to go. She didn't know what to do. The weight of the last few days was too much for her to carry. She had made the decision to leave, but in her heart, she knew it wasn't the right one.
But there was no turning back now. Not when she felt so lost.
As she walked down the street, her steps slow and heavy, a van pulled up beside her. Before she could react, strong hands grabbed her and shoved her into the vehicle. A cloth was pressed to her mouth, and she was knocked unconscious.
When Lucy came to, she felt a cold, rough surface beneath her. Her hands were bound, and her head was covered with a heavy bag. She could barely breathe, the fabric restricting her air supply. Panic set in as she realized that she had been taken.
The truck jolted as it sped down the road, the engine roaring loudly in her ears. She tried to wriggle free from her restraints, but they were too tight. She could feel the cold sweat on her brow, her heart racing in her chest. Where was she? Who had taken her?
Then, after what felt like hours, the bag was ripped off her head, and she squinted against the harsh light. As her vision cleared, she saw a familiar face—one that she had hoped never to see again.
Louis.
"Hey, Lucy," he said, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Long time, no see."
Lucy's stomach turned as she realized the gravity of the situation. She was back in Louis's control, and this time, it wasn't just about her. It was about her life—and Emma's.
Louis's eyes gleamed with a dangerous gleam. "You should've stayed away, Lucy. You should've known better than to think you could escape me."
Lucy didn't say a word. She didn't need to. She knew that the fight was far from over. And now, she had to find a way out—before it was too late.
Back at the Bradford house, Tim was frantic. He had called everyone he could think of—his friends in law enforcement, his colleagues, anyone who might know where Lucy had gone. But so far, there was no sign of her. No word. No trace.
As he paced around the house, trying to piece together what had happened, his phone rang. He grabbed it, hoping it was some good news. But when he saw the name on the screen, his heart sank.
It was Ashley.
"Tim," she said, her voice trembling. "You have to know... I didn't mean for things to go this way. But Lucy—she's in danger. Louis is out. He's back, and he's coming for her."
Tim's mind spun. He had known Louis was dangerous, but he hadn't realized just how deep the threat went. He needed to find Lucy. He needed to protect her—before it was too late.
"Where is she?" Tim asked, his voice filled with urgency.
Ashley's voice wavered. "I don't know. But I'm scared, Tim. I'm scared for her. And for Emma."
Tim didn't waste another second. He grabbed his coat and headed for the door. Whatever it took, he was going to find Lucy. He wasn't going to let Louis win this time.
And as he stepped into the night, he made a vow to himself. He would bring Lucy home. No matter the cost.
Lucy, meanwhile, was trapped in the back of the truck, the cold metal biting into her skin. She had no idea where she was being taken, but she knew one thing for certain: she couldn't give up now.
Not when so many lives were at stake.
