My Bad... I fantasised too hard. let me just edit this...

The morning sun was still young, casting its warm golden light over the streets of Los Angeles as Lucy Chen walked towards the Mid-Wilshire Police Station for her first day as a full-fledged officer. The city buzzed around her as she made her way to the station, her heart beating with a mix of excitement and nerves. This was the moment she'd been waiting for—the moment when all her hard work, the sleepless nights, and the endless hours of training would finally come to fruition.

Tim Bradford had been by her side every step of the way, offering advice, encouragement, and support. His quiet pride in her accomplishments was enough to make her believe she could achieve anything. But now, as she stepped into the station, the reality of her new role hit her. She was no longer just Emma's babysitter or Tim's friend. She was now an officer, standing on the threshold of a new chapter in her life.

As Lucy entered the station's front lobby, she could already feel the atmosphere—the hustle and bustle of officers moving about, taking calls, handling reports, and organizing their day. The familiar sounds of the station filled her ears, but there was something different today. Today, she was one of them.

"Officer Chen," a voice called out from behind her.

She turned around to see Sergeant Grey, her new supervisor, walking toward her with a warm smile. Grey was a seasoned officer, tall, with a no-nonsense demeanor that came with years of experience. He had been with the department for as long as Lucy could remember and had an air of authority that commanded respect.

"Sergeant Grey," Lucy said, offering a small smile. "It's good to see you."

Grey extended a hand to shake hers. "Welcome to the team, Officer Chen," he said with a firm grip. "I've been keeping an eye on your progress at the academy. You've done well, and I think you'll fit right in here."

Lucy felt a wave of pride at his words, but she kept her cool, knowing that the real work was about to begin. "Thank you, Sergeant. I'm ready to get started."

"Good," Grey said with a nod. "We've got a lot of work ahead of us, but we'll get you up to speed quickly. You'll be riding with Bradford for the first few days. He's a solid officer, knows the ins and outs of this place."

Lucy's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Tim. She hadn't expected to be partnered with him right away, but it made sense. Tim was a seasoned officer, and he knew the ropes. It would be an advantage to learn from him firsthand.

"Bradford?" she asked, her tone light. "I've heard of him."

Grey chuckled. "I think everyone has," he said with a grin. "But seriously, you're in good hands with him. He'll show you the ropes. Just remember to keep your head on straight and your eyes open. This job isn't easy, but it's rewarding."

Lucy nodded. "I'm ready for whatever comes my way."

Grey gave her a look of approval. "That's the spirit. Alright, I'll let you get settled. We'll meet in a bit to go over the shift schedule."

Lucy watched as Sergeant Grey walked away, the weight of the day starting to settle in. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. This was it—the beginning of her career. And she was ready to give it everything she had.

She glanced around the station, taking in the familiar surroundings. The desks piled high with papers, the bulletin boards filled with updates, and the officers moving in and out of the rooms. It was all so familiar, yet it felt so new. She was now part of this world.

"Hey, boot," a voice called out from behind her, pulling her from her thoughts.

She turned to see Tim Bradford leaning against a nearby wall, his arms crossed over his chest and a mischievous smile on his face. "Ready for your first day on the job?"

Lucy couldn't help but smile at the sight of him. He looked every bit the seasoned officer she'd always admired. His uniform was impeccably neat, his badge gleaming under the fluorescent lights. But there was something comforting about seeing him here, by her side.

"I think so," Lucy said, her voice steady. "Nervous, but ready."

Tim pushed off the wall and walked toward her. "Nervous is normal. You'll get the hang of it in no time. Just keep your eyes open and your head down. Don't try to do everything at once."

"I know," Lucy said, her confidence growing with every word. "I've learned a lot from you, Tim. I'll be okay."

Tim raised an eyebrow. "I'm just making sure you don't get yourself into too much trouble. You know how things can get."

"I can handle it," Lucy said, her voice firm. "I've been training for this moment for a long time. I'm not going to let anything get in the way."

"Good," Tim said with a smirk. "Let's get started then. We've got work to do."

The two of them walked toward the squad cars parked outside, the beginning of what would be many long, challenging shifts ahead. The sounds of the station faded as they stepped into the car and headed out on patrol.

Tim had a way of making even the most mundane moments feel exciting. He explained the different neighborhoods they'd be patrolling, pointing out the areas that were more dangerous and those that were relatively calm. They discussed procedures, the importance of staying alert, and the camaraderie that came with working together.

Lucy was listening intently, soaking in every word he said. She had learned so much during her time at the academy, but nothing compared to the real-world experience of being out on the streets.

As the day wore on, they made several stops—routine traffic stops, checking in on a few local businesses, and keeping an eye on suspicious activity. Everything felt like a test, but Lucy was determined to rise to the challenge. With Tim by her side, she felt confident. He wasn't just her partner; he was a mentor and a friend.

Throughout the shift, Tim made sure to point out the things Lucy should look for, helping her understand how to read a situation and how to respond. His calm demeanor was a perfect balance to her more anxious energy. She was learning fast, but she was also acutely aware of the weight of the responsibility she carried.

By the end of the day, Lucy was exhausted, but it was the good kind of exhaustion—the kind that came from knowing she had made a difference. She had done her job, and she had done it well.

As they returned to the station, Tim gave her a nod of approval. "Not bad for your first day, boot."

Lucy grinned, feeling a sense of pride swell in her chest. "Thanks, Tim. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be."

"Just wait until the real action starts," Tim said with a grin. "There's a whole lot more to come."

Lucy's heart raced with excitement. She wasn't sure what the future held, but she knew one thing—she was ready for it. She had made it through the academy, she had earned her place as an officer, and now she was ready to take on whatever came her way.

As the two of them entered the station, Lucy felt a sense of belonging she hadn't felt before. She was part of this team now, and there was nothing that could stand in her way.

And as she looked over at Tim, she realized that this was just the beginning. Together, they would face whatever challenges came their way—side by side.
