The morning was shattered by a loud thud and a faint cry for help. Noor rushed to the living room to find Amaan lying unconscious on the floor, having fallen down the stairs.
"Noor, what's wrong?" Mrs. Khadija, Amaan's grandmother, rushed into the room, followed by Adnan, Amaan's grandfather, and Aunt Malika.
"It's Amaan! He fell down the stairs!" Noor exclaimed, her voice shaking with worry.
Nouf, was the most distraught. She rushed to Amaan's side, tears streaming down her face. "Amaan, wake up! Please wake up!" she cried, shaking him gently.
"Amaan, my baby!" Mrs. Khadija wailed, falling to her knees beside Nouf. "What happened?"
Adnan quickly took charge. "We need to get him to the hospital, now!" he exclaimed.
Aunt Malika helped Noor and Mrs. Khadija to support Amaan's limp body, while Nouf carefully lifted him into her arms. "I'll take him to the car," she said, her voice trembling.
As they rushed to the hospital, the tension in the air was palpable. No one spoke, each lost in their own thoughts and worries.
When they arrived at the hospital, the medical staff quickly took Amaan into the emergency room. The family was left to wait anxiously for news.
Nouf paced back and forth, her eyes fixed on the door to the emergency room. "Why is it taking so long?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Adnan put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "The doctors are doing everything they can, Nouf. We just have to wait."
Mrs. Khadija sat down, her face etched with worry. "I just want my grandson to be okay," she said, her voice cracking.
Aunt Malika sat down beside her, putting a comforting arm around her shoulders. "He will be, Khadija. He's strong and young. He'll pull through this."
Noor walked over to the window and stared out, her eyes welling up with tears. "This can't be happening," she whispered to himself.
Finally, the doctor emerged from the emergency room, a somber expression on his face.
"What is it, Doctor?" Adnan asked, his voice tight with anxiety.
The doctor took a deep breath before speaking. "Amaan fell down the stairs because he felt dizzy. But...he has bone marrow cancer."
The room fell silent, as if the air had been sucked out of it. No one spoke, each of them froze in shock.
Nouf was the first to break the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. "What...what does that mean?"
The doctor's expression was grim. "It means that Amaan needs a bone marrow transplant. And we need to find a donor, quickly."
Mrs. Khadija's face crumpled, and she buried her face in her hands. Aunt Malika wrapped her arms around her, holding her close.
Adnan's face was set in a determined expression. "We'll find a donor," he said. "We'll do whatever it takes to save Amaan."
Nouf's eyes were fixed on the doctor, her mind racing with questions. "What are the chances of finding a donor?" she asked.
The doctor's expression was cautious. "It's difficult to say. "
As the doctor finished speaking, the room fell silent once again, each of them lost in their own thoughts and worries about Amaan's future.
Nouf took a deep breath and stood up, her eyes flashing with determination. "We'll find a donor," she said. "We'll do whatever it takes to save Amaan."
The family nodded in agreement, their faces set with determination. They would do whatever it took to save Amaan.
