Author POV
Amelia stirred awake, her lashes fluttering as she adjusted to the soft glow of the chandelier lights. It was still early morning; the sun had yet to rise. A gentle warmth surrounded her, and as she became more aware of her surroundings, she realized she was in Edward's bedroom, nestled in his bed.
Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him sleeping beside her. His face was relaxed, his breathing soft and steady. A blush crept up her cheeks as memories of his confession filled her mind. She smiled, feeling a rush of emotions, and took a quiet moment to admire him.
Just then, Edward's eyes slowly opened. Startled, Amelia shut her eyes in nervousness, pretending to still be asleep. He chuckled softly before pulling her into his embrace.
"It's still very early," he murmured against her hair. "Sleep a little more, sweetheart."
The warmth of his arms wrapped around her, offering more comfort than the thick duvet. With a contented sigh, Amelia relaxed against him, feeling safe and cherished. Within moments, she drifted back to sleep.
Suddenly, Amelia sat up, her breath unsteady, her hand clutching her head. The abrupt movement startled Edward awake. His brows furrowed in concern as he quickly sat up beside her.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice laced with worry.
Amelia didn’t respond immediately. Her heart pounded as fragments of a dream- no, it felt too real to be just a dream flashed in her mind. She saw herself in a man’s embrace, their bodies impossibly close, his touch igniting a warmth she had never known before, both without any cloth on the bed doing.... A shiver ran down her spine.
But… how?
According to her memory, she had never been this close to anyone before. Not once. So why did it feel so vivid? So real?
She turned to Edward, her eyes wide, uncertain, almost afraid. He was watching her intently, waiting for her to speak.
“I… I saw.. i and..a man.. we.. on.. the bed..,” she finally whispered, her fingers tightening in the sheets. “It felt real… but it can’t be.”
Edward’s jaw clenched slightly. He had a feeling he knew what she had seen. But before he could say anything, Amelia shook her head, confusion clouding her expression.
“I was with someone… too close,” she murmured, more to herself than to him. “But I’ve never never…”
Her voice trailed off as she looked at Edward again, searching for answers she didn’t even know she needed. Edward exhaled quietly, his heart aching. She didn’t remember. She didn’t know that the man in her dream… was him. She was making love with him in their lovely bedroom.
Amelia clutched the blanket tightly, her fingers trembling. She looked at Edward with uncertainty in her eyes.
“Edward… the doctor said I lost years of my memory. As of what I remember I… I’ve never been in a relationship before…” Her voice wavered, fear creeping in. “Did… did Nick-..”
Before she could finish, Edward immediately pulled her into his arms, his hold firm yet gentle.
“That was just a dream,” he reassured her, his voice steady.
“But… it felt so real,” she whispered, her brows furrowing in confusion.
Edward hesitated for a moment before asking, “..Was the man in your dream making you uncomfortable?” He already knew the answer, but he wanted to hear it from her.
Amelia stilled, her heartbeat loud in her ears. She lowered her gaze, cheeks warming. “.....to think of it.. No” she admitted softly. Her grip on his shirt tightened. “But… I love YOU.”
