The Bayou

I smile at it knowing that Nik painted it. I put it down and lay into bed. I fall asleep. I wake up to a dark sky so I decide to go outside. Hayley had went to go see someone so I was all alone. I walk around the pool outside. I hear a twig snap nearby. I walk towards the sound to see a wolf staring at me. I look at it in confusion but shrug.

"You're not supposed to be out here." I hear from behind me and I twirl around to see an older lady. She smiles at me.

"Who are you?" I ask looking at her suspiciously.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm Sabine. We met. I'm one of Sophie's friends." She tells me and I narrow my eyes at her.

"You're one of the witches." I exclaim and she nods.

"Sophie just asked me to come keep you company while everyone's out." She tells me.She looks at the wolf curiously and gestures toward it, causing me to glance back at the wolf.

"You know, it's drawn to you. The child you're carrying is part vampire, part werewolf. You and Klaus made something special." She proceeds to tell me.

"You sound like Elijah. He thinks this baby is going to make us one big, happy family, but now he's gone and I don't even know what... "it" is." I lie to her about the big happy family part. I do not trust her one bit."You know, I can do something about that, if you want. I mean, find out if it's a boy or girl." She tells me and I look at her confused. "I thought you couldn't do witchy stuff around here." I comment and she chuckles shaking her head. "It's not magic, just an old trick my grandmother taught me. Come on. You have to be a little curious." She smirks and I roll my eyes nodding. I lay on the kitchen counter as Sabine holds a crystal hanging on a chain over my belly.
"I think it's a girl." She tells me smiling. The crystal starts to swing in the other direction, and she frowns.

"No... Wait." She says looking confused.

"Wait what? Please tell me I'm not having a mini-Nik." I exclaim worried. The crystal suddenly glows with a bright light, which causes Sabine to drop it. All of a sudden, her eyes roll back in her head, and she begins to chant in a low voice."Hoc est infantima malom. Nos omnia perditu el eam." She says and soon she leaves. I sit in Nik and I's room standing in my nightgown, what did she say? I put my hand on my belly. Nik walks in putting his arms around my waist.

"So I heard that you found out the gender of the baby." He tells me and I nod knowing Hayley probably told him.

"I think it is a girl." I tell him and he smiles at me. I smile brightly back. He walks out to go talk to Bekah and I pull out my laptop looking on translate.

"Ugh nothing." I growl putting my laptop away meanly. The next morning I sit in the living room with Rebekah and a witch named Agnes.

"I told you Agnes, I feel great!" I tell her with a chuckle.

"You are overdue for a checkup." She tells me and I roll my eyes.

"What am I gonna do? Pop into the Quarter for a quick ultrasound? A pregnant werewolf escorted by a witch? Nothing to see here!" I say sarcastically.

"A lot of women would kill to have a child. It strikes me as odd that you're not taking better care of yours." Rebekah says mildly jealous and I roll my eyes.

"I know a doctor out in the Bayou, off the beaten path. Now, I took the liberty of making an appointment for you. Tonight, after-hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it." Agnes tells me and I think for a moment and roll my eyes.

"Okay, fine. Bayou-baby-doctor it is." I tell her just to make her shut up. I stand up and we leave. I get into her car and we drive off to the bayou. It's dark, and Agnes drives me to the obstetrician in the Bayou in her car. I listen to the Owls hoot.

"This is the doctor's office?" I ask her slightly nervous.

"Dr. Paige is only this far out because Marcel's men kept terrorizing her patients. Go! She won't bite!" She smiles at me and I nod. I nervously exit the car and walk toward the clinic. Dr. Paige is giving an ultrasound, and I can hear the fetal heartbeat. She smiles at me.

"Your baby's heart rate is perfect." She tells me and I smile at her.

"I knew it. She's a tough one, like her mom." I tell her with a smirk.Dr. Paige chuckles and hands me a tissue to wipe the ultrasound gel off of my abdomen, which I obviously do. I sit up not caring about my tank top slipping showing my birth mark.

"That's a unique birthmark." Dr. Paige tells me but I ignore her.

"We're pretty much done here, right?" I ask putting my sweater back on. I get a text from Rebekah, which read "Where are you?"

"Your blood pressure is a bit high, I've got something for it." She tells me. I watch her walk away, to where Agnes is waiting in the next room. I text her "Bayou clinic with doctor". Suddenly, a wolf howls loudly, startling me. I get up to look out the window and sees a car's headlights approaching, making me suspicious and anxious. Dr. Paige returns with my medication.

"Ahh, you know, I'm-I'm actually not that good with pills." I lie to her.

"Heh, neither am I, truth be told." She tells me nervously.Dr. Paige sets the medicine cup on the table and starts preparing something. I hear a group of intimidating-looking men walk into the clinic and whisper something unintelligible to Agnes. I turn around to see Dr. Paige preparing a syringe, and the doctor lunges at me to inject me with it, but I grab her arm, pushing it away from me. I headbutt her disorientating her.I stab the syringe into the her neck causing her to pass out onto the floor. I see the men start to run towards the door, but I shut and lock it before they go to it. One of the men rattles the doorknob as I open the window. I jump out of the window running into the woods seeing as it was the only place to go. I hide behind a tree and wait for the men to run past me. I run up to them and kick the first man in the gut before knocking him to the ground. I jump and kick the second man down snapping his neck. A third man tries to attack me but I grab the knife from his hands cutting his neck with it as I spin in the air. A fourth lunges toward me so I grab his shotgun and knock him to the ground. I kill him by kicking and hitting him with the gun. As I crouch into a defensive position on the ground, my eyes become a gold color as I look around for any more threats. A large, burly man comes at me, but before I can react, his neck is snapped from behind by Rebekah who just arrives.

"Have to say, I'm impressed." She smirks at me.

"Took you long enough. How did you find me?" I ask her coming out of my crouching position.

"Your text got me halfway, vamping here did the rest. Who are they?" She then asks me.

"Witches. Warlocks. Whatever." I tell her and we notice more men with flashlights in the distance heading toward us.

"There're more of them. Run!" Rebekah tells me. I reluctantly start to run.

"If I had a dollar for every mess my family has got me into..." I hear Rebekah mutter to herself. Rebekah is shot in the heart with two arrows, which temporarily neutralize her and she falls to the ground.

"Rebekah!" I yell and I get shot in the shoulder with an arrow, which seems to be coated in wolfsbane that causes me to pass out and fall to the ground as well.
