Put it on the Line
—————The bell finally rang for the dismissal of class, as well as marking the end of the day for the students, all finally happy that their schooling days were coming to an end with Summer break rolling around the corner. In fact, today was their final Friday before then, and many of them were ready to enjoy these coming times of lessened schoolwork to enjoy their passions.
As they all packed their things, one student, a girl with long turquoise hair, had already packed away everything she needed to and started her way out of the classroom. As one of the first out to the hall, she got easy passage through the soon to be coming crowd of teenagers and got right to her locker.
"Heeeey Marcy, ready for Summer Break?!" She flinched as another student popped up beside her, hugging into her rather tightly, though she wouldn't feel it anyways.
"Jenny, can you not sneak up on me like that? Remember what happened last time?" Marcy, or full name Marco Polo, pushed the human girl off her so she can grab her things from the locker. "I don't wanna bring out my rigging and toss you again."
"It was fun though!"
"You're so hyperactive..."
The girl giggled and went beside Marco to her own locker, grabbing her things before checking her phone. "Ooooh~! The stage is going up in an hour today! You gonna watch?"
Marco spied a glance at her phone, seeing the message from an app that came up about a year ago. It was an app made by Akashi, and thanks to her work and Vestal, they made something pretty nice together.
Marco smiled at the announcement, before nudging Jenny. "Click it and take a look at who's participating."
Marco soon finished gathering her things, and just as she closed her locker, Jenny gasped loud enough for the people around them to hear. She looked up to Marco with stars in her eyes, pointing at her phone and the listing.
"YOU'RE IN THIS ONE?!"
That drew eyes, and everyone looked to Marco like a celebrity. These events were big things after all, cause no one has ever seen what these were like during the Siren times.
Those things being simulated were Kansen on Kansen battles.
"Yep~. I'll be heading in for my first one, and on the anniversary of the making for these things too!" She was excited for this, having trained up with her mother on how to use her Rigging and plenty of extra bits too, like how to throw a punch real good.
What? Her mom was like that.
Jenny looked down to her phone again, going a little pale as she saw the rest of the matchup. "U-Uhh...Marcy, you sure about this one? This doesn't look fair..."
She looked at it as well, a pit instantly developing in her stomach as she noticed the enemy team. It was a team filled out with Shimakaze, Enterprise, Belfast, Cleveland, Musashi, and Washington.
It was a team of super heavy hitters, and veterans in this sport they made.
...
The pit in her stomach subsided somewhat soon after, as she smiled at who was on her team. Everyone else was worried since it was a 3v6, but Marco knew better.
She patted Jenny's back, hauling her things over her shoulder as she got ready to go. "I'm not worried, I got the best backup I can."
"B-But they're also first timers!"
"Yeah they are, but they'll be more than enough." She waved over her shoulder as she walked off, everyone watching her go despite what's about to happen and what's going to be broadcasted across the world. "So sit back and enjoy the show will ya?"
