Throughout the rest of the week, which went by slowly, to everyones dismay, Katherine convinced herself, and Calum, that one time, that she was 100% ready to go on a date with Luke.
But, as expected, when the actual day of the date rolled in, she was nervous as fuck and she had no idea why.
It was just a stupid date, she would always tell herself. But the butterflies in her stomach said otherwise.
Katherine checked the address Luke had given her for the fiftieth time that morning as she walked to his house. It was fairly gloomy that day, so she was almost certain it'd rain. But she didn't mind that, she liked the rain and only picked up the pace of her walking when she was completely sure that she was going to get rained on.
Luke lived in a fairly large, ordinary blue house not much bigger than everyone else's houses in Sydney. Most houses generally looked the same in the city.
Katherine stopped at the door and let out a nervous sigh as she rang the door bell that seemed so loud, she could probably hear it from across the street. The door opened almost immediately, a grinning Luke on the other side of it.
"Why hello there," he greeted politely, opening the door wider for Katherine to slip in past him and into the warmth of the house. "Ready for our date? My family'll be away for a few hours so it's just you and me. Make yourself feel at home."
The redheaded girl smiled, taking off her shoes and placing them neatly by the door. "As ready as i'll ever be, Hemmings," she stated before adding, more politely this time. "And thank you."
Luke nodded, a stupid grin on his face as he closed the door. "Alright then, this'll be the best date ever, and when it's over, you'll want to have another one" he announced philosophically as he made his way into his kitchen, with Katherine trailing behind him, shaking her head at his stupidity. "Whatever you say, blondie."
The Hemmings house was cozy and quite small on the inside compared to how big it looked on the outside. It was simply, yet perfectly elegantly decorated, it's white walls filled with family pictures and, sometimes even trophies won by Luke and two other boys named Jack and Ben, whom Katherine guessed were his siblings.
"I didn't know you had two brothers," the redheaded girl piped up as she stood beside the entrance of the fairly large, and also well decorated, kitchen.
The blonde took out a small unopened bag of un-popped popcorn, reading the instructions before throwing it in the microwave for five minutes. "Oh, they're both in college, so i don't talk about them much" he responded, the redhead nodding as he spoke. "By the way, how do you like it?"
Katherine blinked. "How do i like what?" She questioned cluelessly, making Luke let out a chuckle.
"How do you like me in bed?" He joked, earning a gagging noise from the shorter girl and a, quite painful one at that, punch in the arm. The blue eyed boy groaned and rubbed his bicep, wincing at the pain. "I was kidding!" He said, pouting down at her and Katherine noticed how he was practically always hovering over her. Stupid tall people.
"You're gross" she retorted, crinkling her nose in distaste.
Luke threw his arms up in the air in joking defeat. "In my defense, i was only asking how you liked your popcorn. Like do you want butter or cheese or are you weird and like it plain?" He rambled on, as if he wanted to include all the different ways to prepare popcorn in his statement.
Katherine smiled. "Butter would be great."
The blonde paused for a bit, the microwave blaring throughout the kitchen loudly. "I tried to think of a butter pun, but i have none" he announced sadly as he took the package out of the microwave, emptying its contents into a large, penguin themed bowl.
