"I never said you could invite people," Michael reminded, frowning at the curly haired boy standing beside Katherine, who cringed slightly at the glare he was giving her. She could practically feel the distaste and annoyance hanging in the air, like it was an actual physical thing. "Who even is this guy?"
"Who even are you? You look like a smurf took a shit on your head," Ashton mumbled, shuffling slightly and looking more confused than annoyed as he turned over to his shorter, red haired sibling. "You never told me that you were friends with assholes."
The blue haired boy scoffed, crossing his arms stubbornly, like he was a child that just got his cotton candy taken away from him. "I'm Michael, and i am not an asshole," he assured defensively, a pout on his naturally red lips that Katherine envied. "I'm also Luke's best friend."
"I beg to differ on that second statement, but i'm Ashton, Katherine's brother, " the curly haired boy stated, holding a hand out to him politely, even though he seemed to take a massive disliking to the boy.
It was always annoying as fuck to Katherine, how nice he was. Probably because she could never pull off being as nice as him, which always made sense why their grandparents always liked him more, thus resulting in him getting cooler, more expensive presents while she got pens. Fucking fifty cent pens from goddamn Wal-mart.
"Step-brother," the shorter sibling corrected, earning a nod from Michael, who looked momentarily puzzled as to how they could be blood related siblings, which they weren't because they looked nothing alike. They didn't even look related at all, which sucked because Ashton looked amazing half the time and Katherine always seemed to see a potato every time she looked into the mirror.
"Why the hell did you bring him though? Isn't that like lame? bringing your brother to your love confession?" the emerald eyed boy questioned, crinkling his nose at the weird thought, earning a facepalm from Katherine. He had a talent for making things more awkward than they actually were. It was like he was trying to ruin his life, which, in reality, wouldn't have surprised her at all. He seemed like the type of person that would gain happiness from lighting things on fire anyway.
Ashton furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, "wait what? i thought this was a band practice or some shit?" he responded. "And who the hell is she confessing to?"
"That too," Michael stated simply. "And i don't know man, it's a long story but she's totally in love with my best friend, y'know the lanky one that runs into inanimate objects on a daily basis? Yeah that one. Now if you would just kindly walk away and leave your sister here, we could just call it a day. We don't really want anyone we don't need," he explained slightly bitterly, making the curly haired boy wince a bit at his words. He barely even knew the guy, but it still hurt like a bitch when he said things like that.
"Hey, don't be fucking rude," Katherine scoffed, placing her hands at her hips as she scowled at the blue haired boy in front of her. "I brought him to fucking fix your lack of a drummer situation. He's the best drummer i know, and i've got high ass standards when it comes to music you little smurf."
"Hell no, i'm only half decent," Ashton mumbled, his cheeks heating up in embarrassment, earning a cold, annoyed glare from his shorter sibling.
Another annoying ass thing about Ashton was that he was extremely, mind numbingly humble. Sure, it was a great personality trait and it's a hell of a lot better than being a cocky ass prick that no one likes, but it made it a whole fucking lot harder to compliment him. Even standing up for him was a pain in the everything.
Michael raised an eyebrow at the boy in unamusement and distaste before opening his mouth to say something (probably an insult or some shit, Katherine guessed) before a higher, more familiar voice piped up from a room upstairs.
