"Alrighty kiddo, i've gotta go," Calum stated almost immediately as him and Katherine's sixth period came to a close, the annoying bell of death, as Katherine liked to refer to it, sounding throughout the room loudly.
The shorter of the two best friends raised an eyebrow at the raven haired kiwi boy. "What's got you in so much of a hurry, Hood?" She questioned, simultaneously stuffing her things in her backpack as she talked. "Usually you walk home with me."
"I'm gonna hang out with Mikey," Calum gushed, slinging his backpack over his shoulder, a blush settling on his cheeks at the weight of the redheaded girls stare. "Were gonna watch movies at his place, most likely The Avengers."
The two of them made their way out of the classroom, Katherine snickering at her quite flustered friend. "Mikey? How cute, you're going on a date with Luke's best friend," she said, emphasizing the word date.
The kiwi boy scoffed and shook his head, narrowly avoiding bumping into anyone as he walked out of the always-crowded school. "It's not a date," he insisted simply, frowning as Katherine simply would not buy it. "I barely even know him okay? Its like a bro bonding."
"Yes a bro bonding, where bros just go to be bros and live out their brolives in brosperity!" the redheaded girl exclaimed heartily in mock excitement and enthusiasm. "Do you think he's cute though?"
"I'm leaving," the raven haired boy announced, rolling his darkly colored eyes at his best friends as the two began to part ways.
"Hey, it was a genuine question! But -alrighty then, have fun with Mikey, Cal," the redhead smirked, sticking her tongue out at the boy teasingly, yet only receiving an unamused "fuck you, asshole," in return as he disappeared around the corner, leaving Katherine to snicker to herself as she made her way towards the direction of her house.
"Hey, Kat!" A familiar voice exclaimed, making the redheaded girl frown as she turned to face the familiar blonde hair and blue eyes she grew to fancy quite a lot, completely stopping in her descent home.
"Yes, Lucass?" She questioned, her voice flat with fake distaste at the boy in front of her.
Luke frowned, choosing to ignore the clearly cringe-worthy nickname, "are you busy by any chance?" He asked, politely as always, earning a smile from Katherine.
"No, not really" she admitted, honestly. "I kind of just planned on going home and watching netflix. Why are you asking?"
The blonde shuffled nervously, a blush settling on his cheeks. "Well," he started, politely as always. "I was wondering if you'd like to go get some coffee with me or something? I mean, if you want, obviously."
Katherine shot him a sweet smile, nodding in response. "I'd love to," she said, honestly, letting out a giggle as the boy in front of him smiled widely.
"Really?" He questioned, making the redheaded girl roll her eyes in playful annoyance. "Why do you always ask me if i'm serious? I always am," she stated simply, her head cocked to the side in adorable curiosity that Luke swore made his stomach explode with butterflies.
"I dunno," he admitted, shrugging his shoulders and shuffling in his place. "I just like to make sure you still like being around me. It'd be a shame if you didn't, i'd be sad."
Katherine smiled, shaking her head. "I'll always like you, Luke," she stated sweetly, making the blonde boy grin widely, a giggle escaping his lips.
"And i, you" he responded before pointing at the quite crowded school parking lot behind the both of them. "Lets get going now, yeah?"
--
"Why do you like coffee shops so much?" Katherine asked, looking up at the boy in front of her as they stood in line at Starbucks, the soft sound of A Drop in the Ocean playing throughout the small shop that smelled of tea leaves and coffee beans.
