"Okay so you're telling me that Deadpool's cooler than Spiderman?" Luke questioned, looking at the redheaded girl beside him in utter disbelief as they sat in the back of the blonde's brother, Ben's pick up truck.
His brother and him had switched cars at the coffee shop earlier on behalf of the elder one, who insisted that pick up trucks were not romantic enough for a date, and coffee shops weren't either.
"Deadpool is cooler than Spiderman, and think about all the shit he was put through! He's relatable!" Katherine stated as-a-matter-of-factly, earning an eye roll from the blue eyed boy.
"He's a fucking assassin, Kat," he deadpanned, looking at her in slightly offended disbelief. "And besides, Spiderman's got his webs and his costumes definitely cooler!"
The redheaded girl crinkled her nose, shaking her head in slight, amused disagreement. "Whatever you say, princess," she stated, frowning at him under the progressively darkening sky that continued to illuminate the world, even in all its changing colors of baby blues and strong pinks and purples. It was beautiful though, like Katherine was in Luke's mind.
"I am not a princess," the blonde argued, folding his arms across his chest like a stubborn child. "I'm a punk rock knight."
"You're basically a baby," the redheaded girl teased, booping the boys nose. "Baby Lucass."
Luke gagged, rolling his eyes playfully. "My parents must have hated me if they named me baby Lucass," he stated, honestly, pouting at the girl beside him, who giggled in return.
Katherine looked up at the sky and sighed, a smile tugging on the edge of her lips. Luke had a talent in making her horribly ordinary life mean something. And she couldn't thank him more for that. Even if she did hate him for the longest time, she had grown quite fond of him now.
Luke just felt like home to her.
"It's getting late," she mumbled, frowning at the time on her phone that seemed to blind the both of them in its illuminating darkness.
Luke pursed his lips, fumbling with his fingers nervously. "Don't leave yet?" He mumbled, the statement sounding more like a question. Katherine blinked at him, sighing as the boy let out a nervous cough. "I mean its still early and it's like the perfect time for an adventure" he added, a weak smile spreading across his pale features.
The redheaded girl raised an eyebrow, sitting up properly so that she could look at him, her grey eyes mimicking beautiful childlike excitement. "Adventure? You've got me listening, Hemmings," she announced, sounding quite excited about just the thought of getting lost in pure adrenaline. "I'm a sucker for adventures."
The blonde boy laughed, leaning in and whispering as if to keep the mood going. "Have you ever dyed your hair in the target bathroom?"
--
Luke wandered through the aisles aimlessly, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he looked for the hair dye."Are we really doing this?" Katherine questioned, trailing behind him like a little cloud of excitement and slight doubt.
The blonde nodded, "well yeah, if you really want to," he stated, letting out a squeal as he found the hair dye section after an agonizing twenty minutes of searching. "What color should i dye my hair?"
The redheaded girl thought for a bit, "Blue," she said, finally, making Luke raise an eyebrow at her.
"Wouldn't that look weird with my eyes though?" He asked, crinkling his nose at the thought of dying his beautiful hair that bright of a color. It was still a virgin, after all. Like y'know, the rest of Luke.
The redheaded girl shook her head. "Dark blue will probably just make them look brighter," she explained, earning a nod from the boy beside her as he picked up a box of Splat blue hair dye before looking in her direction expectantly.
"What about you?" He questioned, pointing at the vast variety of different colors arranged neatly on the shelves. "You wanna stray away from red for once?"
Katherine bit her lip and shook her head. "Nah, i like red," she stated, making the blonde pout a bit in disappointment.
"Awe, alright," he said, nodding in agreement. "Red looks great on you, so i don't blame you for liking it," he added, as-a-matter-of-factly, earning a blush from the shorter girl as they made their way to the checkout station.
"Besides, we can make purple!" He gasped out in child-like excitement at the sudden realization of the mix of the two colors. Katherine giggled, nodding in reply as they got to a register with a girl about their age with dark, brown, curly hair that reminded her of Ashton.
The girl, Ariel, as Katherine could see from her Target themed name tag, smiled at them. "Did you guys find everything alright?" She questioned while simultaneously scanning the hair dye.
Luke smiled politely as always, nodding. "Yeah, thank you," he stated sweetly as the girl put the hair dye in a plastic bag, handing it over to Katherine.
"Have a nice day!" Ariel stated as the two turned away from the register. "Oh, and by the way, you two make a really cute couple," she added, giggling as the two of them immediately turned red in the face at her words.
The blonde coughed, biting his lip in slight nervousness, looking quite flustered. "Oh, thank you," he said, gratefully. He liked being regarded as a couple for some reason.
Ariel nodded, "no problem!" She called out as the two of them disappeared, taking the exit out before coming in through the back entrance so that no one would suspect a thing, an idea that Luke had come up with and was very proud of. So proud that he was practically convinced he deserved an
Katherine coughed, following the blonde boy as they walked side by side towards the Target bathrooms. "Well, that was eventful," she stated, earning a smug grin from a clearly flustered Luke.
"I agree though," he said, nodding as he walked. "We do make a cute couple, probably because were both cute, y'know?" He questioned, smiling widely as he made his way into the surprisingly clean hallways that held the boys and girls bathrooms.
Katherine frowned at the signs, looking quite dumbfounded. "Uhm," she started, sounding awkward. "Which one do we use?"
The blonde blinked, "i never actually thought of that," he admitted. "I've only done this with Michael."
The two of them stared at each other, their eyes shifting from both of their faces and the doors, which remained shut in, what Luke would call, awkwardness.
"Do you want to uhm.. Do rock paper scissors?"
