49: Girlfriend

At the Scene

Liliana stepped toward Lee Know and his friends, her mind set on thanking them. She barely made it within arm's reach before everything spun. A wave of dizziness crashed over her, and the next thing she knew-darkness.

"Shit-Liliana!"

Lee Know barely had time to react before she collapsed. He lunged forward, catching her just before she hit the ground. Her body was completely limp in his arms.

His breath hitched. "Liliana? Liliana, wake up!"

She didn't respond.

His heart pounded as he shook her lightly, his mind racing. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw it-a thin trickle of blood running down the back of her head.

"Shit-she's bleeding!" he shouted.

A police officer rushed over and knelt beside them. He carefully moved Liliana's hair aside and let out a sharp breath. "There's a wound. Looks fresh. We need to get her to the hospital."

Lee Know's grip tightened around her. "Get her in my car. Now."

The officer shook his head. "We'll take her in the patrol car. It's faster."

Lee Know hesitated, but the officer was already signaling to his partner. Within seconds, the back door of a police vehicle swung open, and they carefully moved Liliana inside.

Lee Know took one last look at her unconscious form before stepping back, his fists clenched as the vehicle sped off.

At the Hospital

Lee Know paced outside the emergency room, his jaw tight. The nurse's words echoed in his head. Mild concussion. Not severe.

It should've been a relief, but it wasn't. Liliana was unconscious when he caught her, bleeding. Nothing about that felt mild.

The tension in his chest barely had time to settle before the waiting room doors burst open.

"Where is she?!"

Felix's voice cracked as he practically stumbled into the room, his eyes scanning frantically. Behind him, Changbin, Jisung, and Seungmin rushed in, all of them looking equally frantic.

Lee Know straightened. "She's in recovery."

Felix exhaled shakily, rubbing his face. "God... I can't believe this. She just-collapsed?!"

"She had a head wound," Lee Know muttered. "Probably from-"

"Those damn trainees," Changbin spat, his fists clenching. "They think they can do whatever they want. That ends now."

Before anyone could respond, Seungmin pulled out his phone.

"Who are you calling?" Jisung asked.

Seungmin didn't answer. He hit the speaker button, and the phone rang.

One ring.

Two.

Then-

A clipped voice answered. "What do you want, Seungmin?"

Seungmin didn't waste time. "I want the trainees responsible for Liliana's bullying gone."

Silence.

Then, a tired sigh. "Seungmin..."

"Don't Seungmin me," he snapped. "She's in the hospital right now. A concussion, Yang. A real injury. You're going to sit there and tell me those trainees deserve to keep their spots?"
