Chapter 16

Y/n's POV

The monster took a couple of steps forward before looking at us. We stood there staring at the monster before it roared again as it raised its head into the sky. The monster whipped around, sending its tail crashing through the mansion and killing some of the knights who were under the rumble as it collapsed. "Retreat!" A knight shouted. The monster smashed through the main gate leading to the mansion, walking away. "Oh no, this isn't good. We've got to get out of here." Big brother said. 

"Right." Big sis said. Everyone turned away from the monster before running to get away from it. We headed behind the building out of line of sight of the monster before stopping around the corner. Big brother let out a sigh before looking at Reichnott. "You okay Van?" Big brother asked. He was clearly out of breath as he looked at us. "I believe so." He answered.

"It's not right. That horrible man set a monster loose, all so he could kill Naofumi." Melty complained.

"What else is new." Big brother commented.

"Yeah, this isn't that shocking, sadly." I added. I heard a groan of pain as I looked over at big sis and Keel. "Oh Keel." Big sis said.

"I'll be alright." Keel said.

"Let me..." I started, walking over to them. Keel raised his hand to stop me as I looked at him. "Don't worry about it. You'll need all the power you can use to defeat that thing." Keel said. I nodded as I stopped walking towards them. "Now what? We know we gotta..." Big brother started. As he was talking, the sound of something being crashed into interrupted him. We looked back, seeing the monster shoving its head through the top of the mansion. "How did it find us?" Big sis asked. The monster turned towards us as big brother raised his shield and stepped back. I stood there thinking of any spell that would be strong enough to stop it, but I couldn't think of any. "Dumb lizard." Filo said, before taking off towards it.

"No! Filo!" Melty shouted.

"Filo!" Big brother called. Filo kicked the monster in the face before big brother changed his shield to the Viper Shield preparing to attack. "You can't fight that thing here. We're right in the middle of town." Melty said.

"We know, Melty." I said.

"Let's lure it away from here first." Big brother said. I nodded. "Good idea, how?" Melty asked. Filo jumped over the monster before running away on the roof. "Naofumi, Y/n look." Melty said. 

"At what?" Big brother asked. I looked at where she was pointing, seeing that Filo's stomach seemed to glow. "Look closely at Filo's belly. Now look at the monster. It's not after you." Melty said.

"It's after Filo?" Big brother and I asked.

"Yes." Melty answered.

"Alright, that means she's the one that can lure it out of town. Except..." Big brother said, looking back. 

"Don't worry about us. The children will be alright. I'll get them to safety." Reichnott said. I nodded as I looked at him. "Thanks, good luck." Big brother said. He walked over to big sis as she was looking after Keel. "Let's get going." Big brother said. Big sis looked at him before hesitating as she thought about Keel. "Hey, Raphtalia." Keel said, getting her attention.

"You're with the shield hero and Kitsune hero. You're in their party, aren't you? That's what you told me." Keel said.

"Uh-huh." Big sis said, looking at Keel.

"Then you have to go. No need to worry about me. Go on." Keel said, grasping big sis' hand.

"Are you sure?" Big sis asked.
