Chapter 25 Naofumi's Choice

Y/n's POV

Big Brother stood in front of us, blocking Glass' attacks as she launched one skill after another at him. She charged forward as Big Brother was forced back by her frontal attack. She continued her barrage of attacks as Big Brother continued stepping back to avoid her attacks. Big Brother blocked her last attack from her barrage of attacks, stopping her pushing him back. "Master Naofumi!" Mom cried. Big Brother swapped to his Soul Eater shield to steal some SP from Glass, but she jumped back, looking worried about it. Big brother gasped as he watched her jump back. "The Soul Eater shield did that?" Big Brother questioned. I could see he was thinking about how Glass had just reacted before I noticed Therese was preparing to cast a spell herself. I stepped in front of Big Brother, raising my arms in front of me. "I pray, may your sacrifice carve open a path to our future," Therese called. She threw a gemstone towards us. It was a yellow gemstone that glowed brighter the closer it got to us. "Zweite Kitsune Barrier!" I called, forming my magical barrier in front of us. Big brother added his Meteor Skill to my barrier to keep us protected. "What kind of magic is this?" Melty asked.

"It looks like it's being powered by her jewels." Big Brother started. I saw Glass get into the same stance that she used to defeat Ren, Itsuki and Motoyasu during the last wave. "That's the same stance she used to defeat the others last time." Big Brother pointed out. 

"Power of jewels far and wide, heed my call and come here to me. I call upon you, my friends, summoning a freezing storm that destroys my targets." Therese chanted. Big Brother pulled me back towards him before activating his Shield Prison skill. "Bejeweled Blizzard!" Therese called.

"Combo stance. Reverse hail season!" Glass called. Big Brother groaned as he braced against the attack while I heard it hitting against the Shield Prison. After a moment, the attack stopped as Big Brother let us out of the barrier. He was out of breath as he released the Shield Prison skill. "Master Naofumi," Mom started.

"Are you two holding up okay?" Melty asked. 

"Yeah, I'm just peachy." Big brother answered.

"Same here. We've definitely leveled up. Doubt I would've lasted this long during our last encounter." I added. Glass commented on how they couldn't defeat us even with that combo skill, adding that we had gotten better since the last time we met. "Everything I thought I knew about you two is completely useless now." Glass commented.

"Guess it's a good thing we leveled up back on Cal Mira, huh?" Big Brother asked. Mom agreed with him as Glass stared us down. "Alright, new plan. It's clear I need to fight Glass on my own." Big Brother said. Melty asked if he was out of his mind while Big Brother ordered the four of us to handle L'Arc and Therese. "Please don't tell me you're going to..." Mom started.

"This way I won't have to use that shield." Big Brother said. He looked back at us, smirking about his plan. "You got it. We'll hold Therese and L'Arc off, ya," I said. Melty and Filo agreed to Big Brother's plan as Glass took off after Big Brother. "The two of you are going to have to deal with us now." Mom said, prepared to fight L'Arc and Therese.

"Sounds like fun," L'Arc replied. Mom rushed forward first as L'Arc did the same to face her. I raised my hands, reapplying the attack, defense, and speed boosts to everyone, since Melty was here to help with backup. L'Arc and Mom clashed, with L'Arc being on the defensive. "My friends, bring forth a wall of fire to stop my enemies in their tracks. Bejeweled Flame Wall!" Therese called. A wave of blue flames roared towards us before Melty used a water spell to stop the flames before they could reach us. The steam from their magic clashing filled the air for the moment as I heard L'Arc growling as he moved through the steam. "I don't think so!" Filo called. She attacked from above before L'Arc jumped back to avoid being hit by her kick. Mom rushed in from the side, attacking L'Arc with a downward slash. He blocked it before jumping back away from them. "You guys are good. No wonder Naofumi trusts you." L'Arc said.
