Chapter 97: Peace or War?

*Within the ten years Y/N was spending with his family, humanity improved their knowledge of magic and technology. Technomancy was on the rise in every human country thanks to the help of Atlas Industries.

*A new weapon was created, this one however took a different approach. Atlas Industries created suits of armor powered by Technomancy and the possibilities with it were endless. Dr. Numez and Dr. Langley were working on these suits for eight years, these suits are called, A.T.L.A.S.

*Director Vance wanted it named that, it stands for Adaptive Technomantic Lethal Armor System and it was the sixth generation of it which is the most efficient one at the moment. However these aren't the only weapons created, but most of those weapons are still experimental and could cause devastating results.

*The countries of Freya, Camelot, Solmara and Vaelheim have access to A.T.L.A.S. 

*The continent of Eldia was discovered in the final year of production for the suits, a group of scientist detected a large amount of resources and magic there, so they occupied the island closest to it to set up base.

*They have been monitoring it for a year, they discovered brand new species they never even seen before. They all agree that they were all monsters, but with their Technomancy then they shouldn't be a problem. Dr. Numez was on base, he discovered that monsters had their own kingdoms and society. He was surprised at how "Human" they were, he would monitor them longer and that's when he found the biggest kingdom, they had a flag of a sun.

Present Day during the night...

"Is everything ready? We don't know what we will find on this continent." Director Vance asked Dr. Numez, lead scientist, about the equipment and supplies. "Yes sir, everything is ready. We have prepared for any hostile encounters." Dr. Numez was already wearing his A.T.L.A.S. 

"These suits will suffice." Dr. Numez's, with the help of the suit, voice was deeper than normal and it was the suits attempt to add an intimidation factor to it. Director Vance nodded at the man's statement, to tell the truth, he was a bit nervous about encountering these monsters. Who knows how strong they could be, but he will never show weakness to anyone.

He put on his own suit of armor, the others did the same. Dr. Numez turned to Dr. Langley, "Do you remember the plan?" Dr. Langley wasn't too sure about the use of magic, but he had bills to pay and a family to take care of, his six year old son and wife are depending on him so he has to suck it up, "Yeah I remember the plan, we are reinforcements in case anything goes wrong."

"Very good, hopefully things will go our way." Dr. Numez left Peter, he went to Director Lance to tell him that everything was ready. Group 1 left to explore the land, an hour has passed and they encountered something within a forest.

"Hold. Something is nearby." Vance ordered his men, they all stopped and looked around for what's the cause of the noises all around them. Something was trailing them, to make it worse it was more than one. 

"Stay calm, men. Use your suits' sensory systems," Dr. Numez ordered, his voice carrying a firm authority. Each A.T.L.A.S. operative activated their thermal optics and mana radar, scanning the dense forest around them. The darkness was no issue; their suits could detect biological energy signatures and Technomantic distortions within a mile radius.

Dr. Numez clenched his fists, feeling the subtle hum of Technomantic energy coursing through his armor. "Multiple contacts... they're circling us," he whispered into the comms, his red visor scanning through the moving shadows. His display highlighted at least twelve entities, fast and agile, their energy signatures unnatural.

Then, without warning, a guttural snarl broke the silence.

A blur of movement, a flash of glowing crimson eyes and sharp fangs, lunged at one of the soldiers in the rear.
